Topic: "Video Driver Error" AGAIN!!! :-(

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Can't believe it, after my system has ran flawlessly since 8th March, last night in the middle of my gig BAM!!! "Video Driver Error". Main laptop screen shut down, music continued, output screens went blank, laptop screen restarted with the message that the system had recovered successfully from a Video Driver Error. Had to switch off and on the video tick box a couple of times, the video output wouldn't work properly, SBDJ Scrolling text slowed to a crawl. Eventually, when the tune was near it's end, I switched to my backup CD that is always running. Had to shut down and restart the laptop to be safe. Restarted everything and it was back to normal for the rest of the night.

I find it odd that this should happen after all this time as the laptop has NOT been on the 'net since restoring from the factory backup.

Previous "Video Driver error" nightmares are contained in this thread;

Maybe time to start looking for a new laptop, any suggestions???.............

Is this a Windows error, an Nvidia card? I've had these with bad drivers (and a dying card - but you'd know for sure if that was the case).

I would agree that its either a Windows or Hardware error. For the whole thing to go "Bam" in the middle of a gig.

I'm almost certain that if it was VDJ, you would have got a crashgaurd report. Not only that the fact that the laptop screen restarted itself points to a lower level failure. Maybe heat related???

Yes Roy, it is Windows. The thread I've linked to has all the nightmares I went through for several months with Windows 7 and Vista. Hewlett Packard even replaced the laptop motherboard just before the warranty ran out. I eventually fixed it by restoring the factory backup from the hidden partition and NOT updating Windows. The laptop has not crashed in the last couple of months since doing this until now. :-(

As the laptop is over a year old it may be time to move on..........

PS I'm 100% certain it's not VDJ.
