Dancing is an emotion. Not a gimmick. Play what moves the collective asses of the patrons and you'll need no tricks....

true true!!

I always profile my wedding clients, I ask for at least 20 favorite songs.
and some from the bride/groom party. based on the response I take that and prebuild a playlist of around 100 songs that fit that profile.

The rest is up to you... try to read the crowd.. find what makes them move and stay on that format for a little while.

You guys don't use song to play with crowd or bring any entertainment to the wedding gig. Just bring in the wedding party then just to music that it?

What's a skit?

Don't apologize, you are the MAN imo.
Too many dj's play it safe with the same old crap and trust me, people are pretty sick of it.

The key is to find the music that makes people want to dance and that takes work.
Younger crowds want younger music and there's plenty of great dance stuff with pleasant hooks that will turn people on and make them want to dance.

I get more venue workers commenting on tracks I play in comparison to what is going on in the next room its amazing.
