Topic: First Night Out With Video (Mobile)

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Well even though I had a projector failure I managed to borrow another one for the evening. The setup isn't perfect, but for first time out I think it looked OK.

Everyone commented on it, that they hadn't seen this anywhere else locally and especially enjoyed the slideshow between music vids of the birthday boy!!!

The screen is made up from my two t-bar stands but I've swapped the t-bars from the deck stand with those from the t-bar stands...

The screen is a 1.5m x 2m piece of lycra which cost me £14 ($20). The black skirt was material I already had. It is held up with simple tablecloth spring clips.

It obvisouly needs work. There was nothing to hold the skirt up in the middle so it drooped, and it also got a bit crowded between the deck stand and the screen, plus I had to set the projector as far back as could on the stage to get the full size image.

When complete I'll be taking this to a few select gigs to market the service, but will then charge an additional fee if clients want the full video setup...

Next steps:

I'm getting some brackets made that will enable me to join the short t-bars to the deck stand t-bars to make an extra wide setup. These brackets will allow me to butt the t-bars up to each other or make them equi-distant from each other re-creating the screen size seen here. This will give me one long t-bar and the option to have a screen either side (or both sides) of the deck stand.

I'm also going to be following lineman55's example and building myself a short throw projector stand with detachable screen for the smallest of venues (or for watching the world cup in the back garden ... lol)

Comments please...

i think whatcha need is a seamstress. or a relative who an sew really REALLY good.

sewn continuous loops along the edges like a curtain rod would do the trick and then having fitted notches or holes cut in the ends of your framework so that they locked in place would prolly do the trick

and yeah i'm not a graphic design artist but this might get the idea across..

once it was set up it could be hung from ceiling or set in a stand almost anywhere without having to worry about droop or distortion from the surface - or errant breezes from ceiling fans or air conditioning as long as the stitching was a good straight line - would make a nice flat screen from corner to corner.

Lot easier like this Wild, showed Roy this the other week, two extendable washing pole props (can extend up to two metres, £3 each) threaded through a seam top and bottom of spandex, when I do a mobile show it takes me a few minutes to set up, I'm going to add 3 or 4 velcro straps down either side instead of those elastic tags.

Been playing with photoshop so you can get a better idea how it looks in situ. The add was for one of the other guys who wanted the sponsor logo on screen.

LOL at both of your pics... great stuff guys

I was thinking about just using velcro - still looping over but sticking back on itself. Or maybe do as you suggest for the top/bottom and just use velcro on the sides.

I'd have to make some adjustments as the bolts that join the t-bars together are quite long (they come with the bars for attaching lights) and could possible snag the cloth.

I do like the idea of the clothes line, but only really need to have one at the bottom as the t-bars take care of the top.

Remember this was experimental...

Just having the brackets made now for the t-bars for the grand cost of £0 ($0) and I've now worked out 9 different setups that can include screens if necessary... A friend is letting me use his empty inustrial unit in a few weeks. The plan is to set up the gear in all the different layouts, ame sure I have all the bits and bobs I need and take a few promotional photos so I can start on the web site properly.

Cheers,

Roy

Yeah nice add Paul lol...

I thought you'd appreciate it... lol

Roy,

I did as you mentioned, the top and bottom are sewn and the sides are velcro. It works very well. Sewing the velcro to your material will require a special needle, better to take it to a shop and have it done. I built a frame for the screen using PVC but I have used my stands and cross bars, as you are, with success.
thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the comments... This is work in progress so I will continue to update as I make enhancements.

Should get my brackets today/tomorrow which will enable me to join all my t-bars together as shown below. This will give me a number of setup possibilities...

In this setup I would be creating an extra wide lighting rig

Here either an extra wide lighting or...

...support for two screens

then I can use any combination such is this one

All I am using is my Giraffe deck stand, the two Giraffe T-Bars, my starcloth and the Lycra.

Cheers,

Roy

Depending on size of stage I use the bottom two set ups when mobiling
