Topic: Extended Monitor Question

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

1) Does the PC have to be connected to external hardware BEFORE the extended monitor can be engaged?

2) I have one PC that is not engaging even when it is hooked up. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this problem?

Thanks,
Jay

in most cases YES
but it depends on the video card, the video card settings, and whats connected (VGA VS S-video VS composite & if the video card has smart detection engaged)

Whats the video card manufacturer and model?
How is it being connected? VGA? S-video?
What is it connecting to? monitor? projector?

The video card is: ATI Radeon 3100 graphics
The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8828
Memory is 3GB
Prcoessor is AMD Turion Dual Core Mobile RM 70

I haven't had the chance to use VGA to a projector yet... last time I had a problem.. the VGA worked but I have trouble with S-video to an RF convertor to a TV; plus, S-video direct to Aux in on a TV.

I have a smaller Toshiba Satellite A-35 that works just fine with all configurations, hence my confusion.

Thanks,
Jay

Is the Catalyst Control Center software installed on the laptop? IE: is their an ATI Icon on the Taskbar?

Is so, right click the ATI Icon and open up the catalyst ATI software..

With a TV connected via S-video, it should show an Icon (maybe greyed out) of a monitor/or TV
Right click that icon and enable it.

Thanks, HippyDog... I will follow that up.
