Topic: New to Virtual DJ and need some help!!!

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I have VDJ 6.1 Pro and I am working getting all my music to show up in the browser. One of the problems that I am having is that once I add new music, it is not showing up with all of the fields complete, like the album, genre, year, and comment. I have not found a way to have all of them to be filled in as a group without going one by one......I hope that it makes since!

I have more questions, but they can wait.

thanks

DJ Mike

OK.. So VDJ 6.1 is a first time install?

What type of files are they? mp3?

What software did you use to put all the "tags" in?

Maybe this will help to clarify what I am asking......

I have taken lots of time to make sure that the ID3 tags are filled in correctly and I am needing to figure out a way to have all of the information to come up once I add new music to my external HD.

Also

when you load a song into a 'deck' and VDJ finishes scanning it, do the "tags" then appear? or just the Artist - Title?

When you right click on a file and check the 'info' do the tags appear underneath their respective Blanks?

Have you tried 'right clicking' the respective folder and choose "Scan for Tags" ?

.

I know what your asking.. but I have no idea what 'level' of knowledge you have.. you could be a computer genius or a complete newbie..

thus I ask questions.. ;-)

Its up to you, if you want to help me narrow down the issue by answering those questions..

Question 1: yes, new install
Question 2: most are mp3 with some being wma
Question 3: I used Windows Explorer to edit the ID3 tags

Question 1: just the artist and title
Question 2: yes, it has tag and what it is in the ID3 tag
Question 3: yes, and it remains the same

Sadly, VDJ doesnt read WMA tags..
its a feature we have asked for a few times, so I'm hopefull its a feature that will be implemented in a future release..

Windows explorer doesnt update both V1 & V2 comment fields (yes, their are two version of the comment fields, an older version and the newer one)
I think? VDJ looks first at V1 and if blank it pulls the info from V2

I suggest downloading something like Tag&Rename to edit your tags instead of using Explorer..
The reason I suggest Tag & Rename is it has an option you can set that forces any updates to the tags to be the same for ID3V1 and ID3V2
Also its great at doing batch Tag editing.. other options would be something like Media Monkey

OK
in VDJ hit the "Config" button
go to the "Browser" tab
and make sure all 'info gathering' on the right hand side is
ENABLED.

for more info see the user manual "VirtualDJ6-UserGuide.pdf" Page 5
