I'm looking at buying a wireless mic system but looking for a wireless mic system without the ugly antennas. I've used a couple cheaps sets over the years and the thing that keeps breaking is the flimsy antennas.
I'm not looking at spending a fortune on them. Shure looks too expensive from a quick look. I don't I'll get anyone singing on them lol..
Any ideas? Brands to stay away from?

Mine has antennas on the receiver however if you take them off I still receive a signal.

I have the Shure system and its worth the money imo.
Also normally use without the antennas and got into a bad habit of leaving them in the studio at home.
Then I got to an outdoor event with a keynote speaker quite a distance from the receiver, and all of a sudden I had drop outs...oops, now what.
Well I found a large paper clip in the booth and bent it straight, and it saved the day!
I was sweatin' it for a while there though.

The Sennheiser systems are expensive but the antennas are solid and detachable. I have used my one for years and the antennae can be folded flat behind the receiver unit.

Agreed, my Shure PGX system has a very short rubbery type antenna that, while it does not detach, can be folded in a variety of directions and I have yet to loose signal.

i had a feeling everyone would suggest that. i was looking at the exact one. its $589 over in Australia.
Just curious, is it worth while getting the dual receiver models? I was thinking possible one handheld microphone & a lapel microphone or maybe dual handhelds... Flexible option with corporate stuff I guess.
Also is it possible to buy additional microphones/accessories and tune them into the same frequency and use them?

Wireless mic's without antennas (From the same brand) has less signal range compared to the ones that do have. It could be 50-100 feet

I have a Sennheiser I purchased 8 years ago and its still going strong..
It gets moved constantly between my main system and my 'ceremony mini-system', not cased, just thrown in a tub..
I've never removed the antenna's (though you can, as they use a standard BNC connection)

I guess my point is, your problem isnt so much the external antenna's.. its the fact they are CHEAP external antenna's and components.
IE: you get what you pay for! it was a $700 cordless mic (at the time), but I must say its paid for itself many times over..
Also, another good thing about cordless systems that use the external antenna's with a BNC connection..
you can extend the antenna! or replace it with something bigger.. (IE: by raising the antenna up or using a directed antenna you can increase your distance by as much as 4 times! )
