Hello forum.
I am new here and I am pretty new in the DJing business too, so I would appreciate some help with a few issues.. For a little background: I'm Max, a professional bass player who got hooked on DJing after randomly stumbling upon a demo version of vDJ. After my demo was over, I asked one of my buddies to lend me his laptop with vDJ pro so I could practice (I have it atm) and I figure I'm gonna get into it more seriously. As the first step, I want to get my own legal version of vDJ (using cracked versions of this awesome program makes baby kittens cry) and I need your help on some decisions:
1) for the basics, the system requirements don't say how strong your processor your needs to be, just the model... so would an AMD Athlon with 1.4 gHz do the job? (I intend to use the laptop for vDJ only)
2) would it be better for me to get the Basic version of the program and a nice external audio mixer or a Hercules MP3 e2 and use the LE vDJ that comes with it? Any better solutions? I am a complete noob when it comes to this so any help would be appreciated :)
3) is there somewhere I can see the discount amounts for getting vDJ Pro? I intend to upgrade to that eventually and I would like to save as much as I can.
thanks in advance,
Max

MaxonBass, The Athlon you have should be ok, you didn't mention how much RAM you have, but if the demo you tried worked with no problems you should be ok. I use the hercules RMX and love it, so that my be an option for you. It cost about $350 U.S. but when you figure in it has it's own sound card, comes with VDJ LE, and and discount to upgrade, it might be a good option for you. As far as the amount of a discount you get, maybe another user or someone on staff can help with that.

djnrgbear, thank you very much for your help! I have 1 Gb of RAM but I plan to add a bit more so I think that should be enough. I'll definitely look into the Hercules, although I would rather go for a separate external sound card since I need it for a lot of other things too... Thanks again for your help :)

I was going to the store to try the RMX and the salesman told me they will have a discount on some cheaper gear soon, including the mp3 e2 so I ordered it :)
if all goes well I am getting rid of that "no licence user" next to my name.

Yes, the RMX has a discount, it was much easier for me to drop what they charge for it than the full price. WHen all is said and done you come out to about or right under $500 for RMX and software which isn't to bad considering some of the expensive mixers they have out there.
