Hello all. Can anyone give me some suggestions on the best (yet affordable) pc DMX control. I need the dongle also if anyone can suggest that. I would love to be able to do this through VDJ if I can get the right hardware. Thanks.

Hi,
there's another topic about PC DMX control (It's here)
Check: FreestylerDMX. It's a freeware package that supports many USB-DMX interfaces and has a large supportforum. Lots of fixtures are included, but can be made with a fixturecreator.
Check: DMXControl. Also freeware. Supports not as many USB-DMX interfaces, but support for the most regular are included. Lots of fixtures are to download. Also included is a fixturecreator.
I'm using Freestyler for some years now. I've found DMXControl just recently and haven't worked with it yet.
Hope this helps.
Martin.

Daslight Virtual controller 2. You can download the software free from daslight.com and play with it til the cows come home but to be able to control lights you need to buy the DMX USB hardware (prices are on the website).

I just got into lighting control via DMX. Since I did not wanted to spend a lot of money I gave Freestyler a test run. Purchased a Velleman interface (http://www.sirs-e.com/st/velleman-interface-software-lighting-controller-p-2966.html) and used it for the first time last Saturday during a Quince to control 4 scanners (Chauvet Intimidator 2.0 HTI). What a difference the lightshow had the entire night.

Freestyler is a very robust DMX Lighting option, but it does take a while to set it all up and requires some planning, especially if you want to utilize the "submasters" functionality.
For help getting started, the WIKI (http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/) can be very helpful.
Good Luck!!
