Topic: Star ratings

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Probably being a bit stupid here but is there any way of seeing the star ratings associated with a music file in VDJ.

I have most of my music filed using the star system and genres. This means at the moment I have to keep my music management program open if I want to get some of my less well known (Ones I don't play very often but are still bangers) tracks out to play.

I have created play lists but it is just another thing to manage it's about all I can come up with at the moment. I find flicking through them a pain as well.

Ny thoughts would be helpful

Not a stupid idea, actually a very good idea. :)

heck, I pushed for this idea so much, I almost got myself banned..

Star ratings are not currently available (maybe the next update that comes out?)
until then, most users use the comment field to store their ratings..

Hopefully some day..

This would actually be good..

Organizing music will never be easy. I always add new songs into my sessions or create a nerw folder for whats hot right now. Instead of hoping for sonmething, all you have to do is Just write something next to the name of the song.. Just like a Tag etc.. Like Hot, Ok, Good.

Everyone has their own method of organising their music. Back in the day of vinyl and crates, my collection was almost self organised. New tunes always went in to the front of the most recent crate and popular tunes stayed just behind them. Tunes that didn;y get played drfted back and in to older crates.

And that's pretty much how I find my tunes in VDJ. I use the 'days since first seen' and 'nbplay' filters to give me my 'current crate'. The rest is only a search a way.

Personally I don't think I would use ratings. The play count gives me that. If it's been played a lot it's popular!

When I started it was a mix of vynil and CD's (in the bars).. and when I started with my first Mobile company it was cassettes and CD's..
back then their wasnt a lot of great compilation CD's so we mainly used the original artist albums/cds..
Even with the compilation CD's you would only have maybe 3 or 4 songs that were really good, and a few that may or may not work (depending on the crowd)

so we would put little yellow sticky notes in all the cases, that would list the popular tracks and the cue point..
like
Track 2, cue 3 sec, ok
track 6, cue 10 sec, VG!!
with the last thing as the rating..

for most we didnt always need the 'sticky note' but it was nice to have as a quick reminder.

I can come up with a dozen ways, alternatives and work around to manage my music. Still the star rating can come very useful for many of us.
