My macbook is toast so i have to use my Imac Desktop any thought pros or cons to this

I used to do this myself- it's really pretty nice. If you've got a coffin, the base sometimes can fit nicely inside of it- play around with it.
Be VERY careful about keeping the power on, though. A laptop means a speed recovery from an accidental cord-pulling or powerstrip malfunction. You'll lose that with a desktop- it'll take at least 2 or 3 minutes for a recovery, and all of your played tracks will no longer be marked.
