You can use your normal phone but with a different sim installed during your show is another way.

i have the FireText also
so far i'm just using one phone with bluetooth connection on Vista 64 bit
i don't have a separate personal phone
actually i'm proud to say that the FireText is really cool
my system is proof you can make ANYTHING work with VDJ
let's see ......perfect audio with video with multiple plugins simultaneously running
with a controller with a soundcard , with bluetooth , on Vista Home Prem 64 bit
yes, a hideous store bought Vista system .......just a teeny bit tweaked......
i can translate that too .... the video ...... i talk to Tayla on Skype regularly so ......
if you need help decyphering British ,but i still don't know what Ginger minger is .....

I would like to know how to get my droid to work with it.

I read somewhere that smart phones dont support the comms method or something? Tayla would have a better idea of what phones work?

an approved gsm phone from their list
in the U.S. that means phones from AT&T and T-Mobile ONLY , because those 2 carriers have gsm networks

@ atfmdj, unfortunately at the present time droid/smart phones won't work as the manufacturers won't let 3rd party software developers like Firetext to access their SMS engines, but we hope to have a solution for you and other smart phone users early 2011. Please go to www.firetext.com for current compatible phones and gsm providers in your area.
Extra news for users, we are currently quite busy in the background developing and getting ready for release new ideas that we have been working on, for both Firetext and the Firetext VDJ version. This unfortunately we realise will give our competitors more sleepless nights getting their software updated to match that of Firetext.
New users to VDJ can get the free version of the Firetext VDJ plugin here... http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/effects.html?category=video&order=default&platform=all&search=
we hope you enjoy it.

@tayla- us old heads do not get the free version of firetext?
geposted Mon 27 Sep 10 @ 3:53 pm
Hehe, of course you do, everyone's welcome to it as long as they have purchased a version of VDJ. Surprised your not using it already been in the plugin section for nearly ten months now.
Need any help just give a me a shout on skype at Firetext.VDJ.Support or go down to the plugin forum and look for the Firetext thread and post what you need to know, there are quite a lot of guys there like kirk, leigh, disco Brian and a host of others that can help out if I'm not around.

Surely an Android app would do the trick or are those apps still not able to use the SMS engine?
Cheers,

@GadgetMan... be carefully with what you wish, as your dreams may come true :) Tayla will soon start mention some bits about our brand new connector, for those who already have a droid, a search for FireText in the Android Market will not harm anybody hehe
