Topic: 4 Deck control of VDJ7 using Mixmeister Controller - Page: 1

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

Hi all,

After getting used to Virtual DJ 7 Pro, I came across my old Mixmeister Controller lurking in a cupboard, and thought that it would make a cheap 4 deck controller.

So anyway...been learning device mapping, controller mapping and VDJScript and have come up wiith a usuable mapping set.

Here's the first of a couple of vids showing it...

Video 1 is a talk-through of the features with video 2 being a little demo.

Two functions I did forget to explain are that the T5 and T6 buttons do the following:

T5 = Reverse
T6 = Beep.

Video 1

Video 2

There's some odds and sods to finish off with the mapping and I might build a custom skin for it, so I haven't submitted the mapping - If any of the mods want the mapping/device files, let me know.

Oh and massive thanks to Supacon, who's original mapping on the Mixmeister controller saved me hours of trying to id the CC and NOTES of the controller (Numark's info doesn't include any LED notes and some of the controls are missing from their map).

and lastly, if anyone knows the NOTES of the leds for the following I'd appreciate the info:- cut/copy/paste/split/undo/select and pitch bend buttons.

Thanks

Simon

That's fresh bro! Nice work. Can't wait to see more.

FIX:

Just fixed an issue that affected TEMPO - When a tempo change was requested via the TEMPO control knob, it would only act on the MASTER deck (even though the action is set to "deck active"), so I've added a shift on deck selection.

Pressing a deck selection button on it's own selects the required deck, but does not assign the selected deck as the MASTER deck, holding down the SELECT button whilst selecting a deck, assigns MASTER deck to the selected deck.

Tempo and sync operations are controlled by the MASTER deck.

If anyone thinks this sounds wrong, send me a PM with your email and I'll send the device and mapper files overs.

Very impressive Simon - nice work!! :)

Looking for some help.

I have the same controller, but I can't get mine to work like I see yours working.
I've tried the mapping the device with the Simple Midi Mapper, but I can't get
any of the controls on the hardware to function or get recognized.

Can you please offer any tips or suggestions on how I can make my controller
work like yours?

Thanks in advance!

Vincent, check your PM's

Unlicensed users don't get PMs IIRC...

Okay so I guess since I downloaded the free home version, I don't get
access to what you guys have? Thats ashame to hear. I'm on the fence
with my mixmeister fusion live program, and this virtual dj program my friend
uses @ his club in San Francisco. He swears it is the best, but i don't really
feel like going out and buying another controller just to test out a free
version of a program I have never really used.

I understand that you guys have put a lot of work in to being able to
configure this controller to this program. I also understand that you
do not want to just give that information away. If there is any
information that you could share that could get me started on how to
do it myself, i would greatly appreciate it.

After watching some Richie Hawtin vids, in which he describes using macro's in Traktor to auto sync on cue and loops, I've added the "play_sync" action in the loop and cue sections.

Controls affected:

Cue points 1 to 5 - When set, auto syncs the deck the cue point is on to the master deck.

Loop Exit: auto syncs the corresponding deck to the master deck.

Loop Half: auto syncs the corresponding deck to the master deck.

Loop Double: auto syncs the corresponding deck to the master deck.

What this means is that when using four deck to create on-the-fly remixes, sets, etc, you can be assured that no matter what you do with cue points and loops, it will always be in time.

Oh...and also given the Preview Play/Pause button the Pioneer action (Play - Pause) whilst the MASTER Play/Pause button retains the Numark action (Play - Stutter)...Makes for some interesting effects when bouncing between the two.

and I nearly forgot...I've mapped the T1 to T4 button LEDs to the beats (1 to 4) of the selected deck. If you have the selected decks effect selected, the corresponding T button will be solid whilst the others will keep time with the beat.

I really must do another video....lol

Simon

P.S. is it against Forum rules to post the mapper and device code?

Just a quick video update of some new mapping features.

Huey...no worries...

If anyone is using this controller and wants the mapping changing to suit their own preferences, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do.

Simon

@ Huey

Glad my little info was of some service for you :) I have one myself and it is not bad at all once you program it out ... thanks to Simon and also Supacon (who created a mapping as well).

No doubt cant wait to get it. Been thinkin about this unit since Simon first posted his videos and at that price, there was no excuse to not get 1, lol!!

Thanks for the info and time
