I know that the Mixtrack Pro has a built in sound card...I'm wondering if there is any difference in sound quality between the the one with the built in sound card and the one you have to buy separately. What are the possible drawbacks with buying say the "DJ IO" instead with the old Mixtrack? Overall the original Mixtrack AND sound card would be cheaper than the new Mixtrack Pro. What would be the best option?

Personally i feel its better to have all in one unit.. that way headphone volume knob works directly on the soundcard inside, same with mic, and outputs etc..

And its just more "mobile" .. one box with all you need..

As for drawbacks, there arent any really... Sure you can find better soundcard than the one inside, but the DJ IO aint one,, for a better soundcard you'd need to caugh up a lot of money, and it would no longer be cheaper than the PRO version of Mixtrack.

thanks for your input...the new mixtrack wont be available until early december so now I have another, but off topic, question..I have my virtual dj software on a macbook pro and external speakers that play through my headphone jack...i have a few parties to dj in upcoming weeks...is there any temporary y splitter cord of something of the sort that will allow me to hear the music in headphones and through the speakers at the same time...i know this is kind of a "quick fix" but is preferably needed when im djing...if there is, how do you set it up?

yeah you can..
If you have the pro version you can choose "Splitter" as soundcard options, and get Master AND headset through ONE stereo out.
But both master and stereo would then be mono..

But if you have decided on the mixtrack PRO, and got some home parties to dj at (hopefully home or small pub? else you'd need something better), you could use the splitter way yes..

alternatively vdj works with most any soundcard, so getting a cheap usb surroundcard at Wallmart (dont cost much at all) would give you stereo master and stereo headset

so does that mean that sound would only come out of one speaker?

and yes they are small parties

no, you would have sound in both speakers .. and both sides of your headset.
It would just be mono sound, not stereo :)

(btw, easier to get a cheap surround card, but anyways, will explain the splitter way.. )

The splitter ways takes ONE Stereo output from your laptop (LEFT RIGHT), and sends for example master sound on LEFT, and headphone on RIGHT. Result being mono signal.

Then you can connect this mono signal with stereo cables to speaker, and a headset.. Sound would be present at both sides of speakers, but EXACTLY same sound (Mono), instead of stereo where the sound can be different from left and right speaker, to create a more real felt audio experience (for example with guitars slightly to left, drums slightly to right).

and you would need a plug like this
(splitter)

or this :
(splitter)

And then from the TWO SIDES output of the splitter output, connect speakers to one, headset to other.

To connect speakers you'd probably need a "fake" mono to stereo cable too, to get "two" signals again (but in mono)
(mono to fake stereo)
and from this one connect a standar RCA (phono) cable :)

Its abit of a hazzle as you see.. but works :) (in MONO)

I have the mixtrack pro and i'm loving it, runs on the VDJ LE. the only issue is that i plug it into a conputer with VDJ 7 and not everything works. Is there a special mapping for VDJ 7 and the mixtrack Pro???? can some one help pls..

I just picked up the MixTrack Pro myself and I've found no issues except for one and that is more of a skin issue than the hardware.
I love it, feels good, sounds good and it looks pretty good. Very responsive all around.

lonmower, check guitarcenter.com and see if you can track one down. I picked my unit up at my local Guitar Center just two days ago.
I also heard the htfr.com has it but that will ship from the UK.

also if you go the cheaper usb soundcard route, turtle beach makes a really nice one. I keep two or three in my bag incase of emergency.

Good luck.

@ionmower777...I guess you assumed that the new Mixtrack Pro won't be available until early December. Just go ahead and check it out on Sam Ash music store for $250. Also why you need to stick with a 2 deck controller when 4 deck controllers like Denon MC6000, American Audio VMS4 and Hercules 4-MX are just being released unleashing the power of Virtual DJ 7 with full 4 deck capabilities. Think twice before you invest in Numark Mixtrack Pro or Mixtrack. One last note is only the American Audio VMS4 give you full 4 deck features since a 8in 8out audio interface is integrated. The other two give you 4 deck mixing options with a 4in 4out audio interface integrated. That simply means you can only play two songs at once but using 4 decks in Virtual DJ 7.

there are some good looking 4 channel controllers coming out, but you can make the 2 channel controllers work with 4 decks.

really helped me narrow my decision THANKS!!!

hey TDBennett, could you elaborate on how the mixtrack pro is capable of playing 4 songs at one time?
I am interested in buying the mixtrack pro...

oo and I have a few questions too....what types of music can this controller play? ....2 CD's? and obviously not records..... but how about MP3s from the computer or my hardrive?

If you scratch the turntable, is this really simultaneously occuring with the virtual dj program? Wow this is nuts... the only things I need are head phones and speakers

Thanks for your input to whomever answers my questions, ahead of time! :)

A button can be assigned to toggle through the decks with VDJ, as explained in the post above.

This is not a CD player, it is a midi controller that interfaces with software and the files played by the software, ie; MP3, VOB, AVI, MP4.
The turntables are touch sensitive and will accurately interface with the software to scratch, drop, juggle, whatever you like. It's a very nice unit and for $250 it's a bargain.

other than the ipod docking station and a price difference...whats the difference in the mixtrack pro and the iDJ 3 from numark...it looks like a mixtrack pro with an ipod...is this correct?

Mixtrack pro has 2 RCA outputs, iDJ3 has one, the effect buttons on the MT pro are EQ control buttons on iDJ3. the loop in/loop out are autoloop on the iDJ3. go to numark.com and look at the pics from the top view on both

I have the Mixtrack Pro, and I would like to know if it is possible to preview the music on the headphones, while one deck is playing, using the other deck?

Hi,

I have just got my Mixtrack Pro and have a question. Does anyone find a delay in response time through vdj? I have found that there is a slight delay with mine, but then again, maybe i need a faster laptop!! Any info would be appreciated. Cheers.
