ok so i just recently purchased a seagate momentus xt hd 500gb 7200rpm acclaimed fastest hd on the market due to its adaptive bs on board memory of 4gb solid state. was this marketing ? must say from using it 2 days in row it has slowed down my performace from loading to searching in vdj. Any hd solutions other than ssd?

any suggestions? ANYBODY?

That sounds strange to me...I have the exact same drive in my MacBook and the performance increase is somewhat mind boggling.
My 2007 MacBook now uses approx 11 sec on a full reboot of the system. All major applications launch in about a second or two...I'm truly pleased with the performance.
It did however take a couple of days and several hours of operation for it to rely gain some speed.
The first gig I did with it after swapping the drive was a terrifying experience, because every search gave me the spinning beach ball thing...but it just needed some time to get around the huge music library I have. Now it is working better than ever!

so youre saying its a matter of time?
cause like u i get that damn beach ball and let me tell you i hate it
