I'm not an expert with computers, so I will word this as best as I can. My understadning of the new i7 and i9 processors is that there are several "threads". For example you will have 7 independent processors working at lower speeds, but combine for much faster. Certain programs are designed to only use a certain number of these threads, or processors. Does using an i7 or i9 give me any advantage to the core duo 2.86 ghz processor I am currently using? I have been warned that it may not, depending on how the program is written. So what is the ideal processor for running VDJ?
Also, how do the licenses work for VDJ. For example, if I were to purchase a new laptop, do I need to again purchase VDJ pro? Thanks!

VDJ is very much multithreaded - as are some plugins too, especially if doing video.
You don't need to buy a license if you change machines, don't worry. You are in fact entitled to have it on two of your machines at once.
