that's what i'm talkin' about ! b!tch !

that's a rusty pinto ......with my old Led Zep 8 tracks

Drake drives me nuts. He's basically talking, offbeat over some elementary beat while autotune tries it best to make him sound passable.

So if you don't like Popular music, then why be a DJ; most events require you to play popular music. Pick a different profession and be happy because you would not have to worry about someone asking you to play Drake,Nicki, Michael Jackson or anything for that matter. What you might things is crap music, most people think it is good music, whether for lack of content or dancing. I have heard DJs say they hate hip hop and they only play Techno. I would like to know what is so special about Techno. My point is, Techno is their preference, which is fine, but they shouldn't be bashing other genres of music. Just check billboards and see which type of music is selling the most. It is surely not Techno. I must say that I love all types of music, including Techno. There is garbage and good music in every genre; there is not one genre of music where you can say every song is good. As I said before; look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are a DJ. Reminds me of a nurse in the hospital that treats her patients like shit, i was looking at her thinking " why did she become a nurse", obviously just for the money.

What is so special about Techno...it depends on where you live and what sort of club or gigs you go to.
Most of the jobs I do are schools and I am finding they like Techno/dance tracks as much as urban hip hop lately.

I was in a club in Paris a few years ago and it started out with techno which is the preference over there.
Then they did a top 40 set and the place went nuts.

So in many cases its what the dj serves up that dictates the energy.

As for what is selling, this is skewed now with internet downloads but again depends on where you live.
I use Itunes as a guide for what is selling, and trust me they miss a few now and then when Glee is in the top 5 and absent from the real top 10.

But back on subject, we all have our likes and dislikes.

Another one of mine was Katy Perry till she released Firework.
Cali Gurls and Teenage Dream were over the top with her bare assed body and hoe tel room antics in bed based on her viewing demographic being teen pop.
Her Firework video is top shelf and she keeps her clothes on throughout it and the anti bullying message comes through loud and clear as does her awesome voice and ranges which is what music should be about.

I give her a 10 for that one, but up to that point it was all gawbage.

In America dance music is called techno but actually techno is a spesific sub genre within the dance music genre, it's not very often proper techno is played even in Europe.

Oh yes and this porn pop and wannabe gangsta stuff is getting stupid.

Biggest idiots in the UK right now, wannabe gangsta dicks, n dubs.

at charlie- theyre like maybe 12 rite,,haha you may as well just play the whole willow smith cd, doesnt matter how old they are anymore..money is whats talkin!! to the new crowd-good music- especially hip hop is about what sounds the dumbest over a nice bass line and a stupid non sense making hook. just what i think.

I agree totally, its the bass line.

BTW, my prior comments are regarding video content primarily.
The audio is harmless till you put the two together.

I think the most potent group right now is the BEP's.
Always danceable, always pretty damn clean and has a good hook and baseline and the hits just keep coming.
Just picked up their Light Up The Night video and its pretty solid.

Agreed! I remember them doing a live PA at a club I was working at a few years ago, before they'd made a name for themselves. Full of gangsta attitude even then. One of them was in the VIP area after, and shoved a friend of mine out of the way so he could get to the bar. Tosspot.

Oh, and am I the only one that can't stand that "like a G6" tune? A drum machine, a synth playing one note at a time, and the standard cliche lines about getting crunk with your homeboys.... Another piece of dross spat out of the lazy cliche machine that the kids are bound to lap up. God I'm starting to sound like my parents now.... *goes shopping for pipe and slippers*

kei$ha, her voice bothers me

What is this, the Senior Center, lmao!!!

Huey

This one tops the list at the moment

Followed by this loser.

Not to be outdone by this one

And of course the hottest hit of the summer 2010

Enjoy!

But the one I got the most enjoyment out of was this one with 3/6 dissin Kia Shine after his one time hit WOW.

Now who am I to argue a good ole fashioned stfu?
Best advice anybody could have given him after that showing.

and AGAIN you are missing the point of the thread. it is NOT about the MUSIC. it is about the ARTISTS.

ARTISTS we don't necessarily like, but play their stuff anyhow cause it puts people on a dancefloor.

ARTISTS (there's that word again - see how much it doesnt look like M U S I C?) that we don't like/detest - surely you have someone in your library that you just don't care for but play anyhow?

i have a folder full of popular trax splao might like.....

it's called "torture songs"

some old "she's having my baby" some newer "bedrock" .....i guarantee there's trax in there that

will give anyone a permanent white streak in there hair ......

speakin' of permanent white streaks .....Charlie , i SAW those pictures

i guess i could save 'em for my Halloween slideshow .....

I am laughing so hard from the comments.

Flo Rida and that dick Guetta in this club can't handle me right now when they both pull up outside the club in flash cars and flo rida throws all that money in the air. Cringe worthy

PS,

Those videos Rick posted are bloodly pathetic, will enjoy watching them back with friends and having a good laugh, could even play them out for a laugh.

My Face Boo...omg

The latest Flo Rida that is giving me lock jaw is Turn Around.

And its too graphic for youtube.

ah...renee'... it wasnt about the "music"... it was about the "artists". and since there is no artist's thread currently other than this one then if you do "bust a cap" then your hubby will have to lock you up for real and not for play.

What?????? Renee is married????? Oh no, I just can't go on. I just slit one of my wrist. I only did one because I want to suffer longer. Now what am I gonna do with all of her pictures I had pasted on my ceiling? Help me baby Jesus, help me Oprah. I should just pop, I mean bust a cap in my own ass. Wait......... what is this thread about. Oh.... let me wrap my wrist and wipe up some of this blood. Rick, I have not even seen some of those videos. What a waste of brain matter. I played "Whip My Hair" once, and just threw up on my console. I heard "Like a G6, and threw up on my keyboard, and have not played it yet. Now in all fairness, if I was at a gig with all zombies, I would play both of these tracks, and remind myself that I will be paid very well. The truth of the matter is, most of us know what good music is. Good music has a shelf life of years, decades. There is a reason we still play "That's The Way I Like It", by KC. Years from now we will still Play "In Da Club" by 50 Cent. Dr Dre's track was off the hook, that's why there were so many others that used the track. The lyrics don't really matter. Donald Duck could have been rapping, and it still would have been a hit. It is hard to separate an artist from his music. Yeah, he may make a hit or two, but great artist consistently make hits. No one will remember Rick Ross or the other idiots that put out a track every other week. I try to keep it in perspective. My parents did not like my music. Their parents did not like their music, and so on. It is up to us as professionals to filter out some of the garbage that is out there. Just because one person in the club wants to hear a track, does not mean I should play it. I get paid to make those decisions. Now if it is gonna pack the floor, it would be foolish of me not to play it. I actually love what I do, I just don't like most of the music I play. Nobody cares what I like, but they trust that I will make their party rock. That is why I'm still here.

Now back to my wrist slashing.

A. M. H. M. (Pronounced Ahhh-Ma-Him" in Arabia.

I got married last February. I sent you a private e-mail in advance. You were supposed to jump up in the ceremony and object, you didn't. Now I'm married as DIRECT result of your "No Show". Thanks a bunch pal. :^(

Does this post have to be about "current artists" or can we go back? I thought Jimi Hendrix had a marginal voice at best and he never could tune that damn guitar. I'm just say'n.
