hello, can someone please tell me what this timecode signal means? why is it so sharp in the top left?

In general, when your border looks like a square, it means saturation of the input gain.

by 'saturation of the input gain', do you mean the gain is too high? as i have lowered it on the mixer and in vdj to no avail.
maybe i should also note that the mixer volume is really high, sound is crappy and distorted/muffled.

right the volumes are all good now, but the timecode reading is the same, has a very sharp point in the top left corner. its not a circle.
may this be caused from the needles?
