Dude across the board just take the plunge. A lot of digital djing is trial and error(actually messing with technology, period). You will have issues here and there but all the issues I've had have been easily solved. Digital download is fine. Free upgrades for life. I've been VDJ for about 5 yrs now. Topnotch software, dude. If you are planning on also buying a controler such as Hercules, or numark, then I'd suggest doing that first, since with that you can get a good discount for VDJ, if you buy VDJ first and then go for one of those, welll, no discount.
Also, yes, do it, VDJ is the best.
yes you can save samples, yes you can pretty much custumize it to no end. Tons of skins, great for video mixing and now with the available iPhone app!

Samples can only be loaded and saved in the full VirtualDJ Pro, but as above, you can upgrade at a discount from the free limited Hercules DJ Console Edition of VirtualDJ included with the console.

Premium Membership gives you access to over 8 million songs that you can stream directly via the Internet.
Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/products/membership.html for details.
Pro does not come with Premium Membership - It is a completely separate and optional service.

@ darkdezigns, using Premium Membership is an ideal way of building a good music library especially if you are just starting out in the digital field.
