Hi Folks,
Well, after years using cd's and dvd's I am taking the dive into the digital world! I am in the middle of converting my music and videos to the correct formats, I am also learning the in's and out's of Virtual DJ. Question..........
I almost always DJ with a video screen, but don't always play a video for EVERY song, depending on the audience. IS THERE A WAY to automatically have a random ambient video play whenever I am playing a Mp3 file? From what I've read I would have to assign a ambient video to a track, but I just want it to happen WHENEVER I have a mp3, or non video playing...............
Any help and tips would be appreciated! Thanks much!!

There are a few ways to do it, one is to assign a video clip to each and every audio track you have or you can use the easier quicker way....
Soniques...
Go into config > choose video tab > go down to the bottom right drop down window and select sonique, to the left make sure you tick the box, come out of config and select effects > select video tab > select sonique > select/click on activate > select open > this is where you go to where you have your sonique folder, now open the folder and double click on a file, this will now run your sonique effects. you can now play with the two sliders for the type of effect you want. slide show delay will give you how long each effect will run for and the transparency will let you fade the soniques over other effects like a video, show logo etc...
N.B If you have the time, go through your individual soniques and delete the crappy ones, saves getting them up on the screen.
There are other effects you can run with in this section but my own personal opinion is stay away from them, as a lot can effect the performance of your machine, others need to be user controlled and this will distract you from doing something else in your show.

Clipbank...
This is a nice piece of kit introduced a few years back and is ideal for both ambient video and using it as a promotional tool for both the venue and your shows and whatever else you can think up, you can put clips into each segment of various lengths as there is no time limit on these seqments, you can select loop for any segment, or use with one of the randomizers for throughout the night and your good to go.
You can also make "banks of Clipbanks" where you you can have different clips ready for a particular venue or a specific part of the evening ie:
Clipbank 1, Mcgoo's
Clipbank 2, Drinks promos 8pm
Clipbank 3, Drinks promos 9pm
Clipbank 4, Karaoke
To get these extra clipbanks go to your video plugin section and copy the clipbank .dll as many times as you need, just rename it with whatever title you want to use it for.
Remember to have your vids stored where they are accessable for clipbank as they need to be in the same location each time you open up VDJ
