+1 DJ Homeboy...

you're joking, right?

Ok, stop shouting, and breathe!

Sites like Napster work fine, you just need to be aware of DRM protection on mp3s and wmas. DRM protected content will only play on the machine it was downloaded on, and possibly only for a limited time, depending on where you got it from. VDJ's membership service is DRM protected, but it is designed for DJ use, and will keep working for you as long as you're still subscribing to it.

+1 for all the posts!

P.S. what's a CD?

But in order to use VDJ membership you must have fast internet connection at your gigs. Am I right?

with buyed membership you can cache your grooveshark founds on your local hdd for a limited time :)

Everytime I see this thread it irritates me. Downloading a CD these days cost what $10 in most cases and now over the last decade the ability to buy just the good songs - man, who didn't want that back in the 90's when we were spending $18 at Tower records or any other corporate music shop.

This is your trade, your career. Have some pride. Buy your music legally, buy good solid equipment, and for Santa Clause's sake don't sell your hard drive on eBay - it's a slap in the face to all of us who have taken the time to build a collection, who spent hours, hell even months transferring their vinyl collections to be able to do what they do today. Sure ur saving/making money - that's short term. Long term tho ur hurting the industry because ur allowing anyone to come in and be a Jock and we all know what that means...

+1 ^ I support this message ^

I had that, the only downfall, no recording.

Good luck with that...

it takes money to make money, it's a business.

Rhapsody does work with vdj but its not suppose to cause of the drm you can't dj with rhapsody its only for personal use only .oh and if you have a mac rhapsody won't work unless you have windows on your mac.

Dude do whatever you feel is right for!!! If you see a HD for sale on ebay with an extensive collection freakin buy it!!!! Who are we to tell you what is morally right. If you don't buy are any of these guys going to give some cash to buy cds just for the good of th legal music movement? I think not!

don't listen to this ^ guy if you play independant dance music, if you don't buy tracks, producers don't quit their jobs to produce full time, that means you don't get as many tracks as you otherwise could have, simple as that, If you like britney and the black eyed peas etc... steal away, their songs rape our ears everyday, It's your job to rape the companies that promote that crap, And you should probably explore some different styles of music LOL

promoonly.com is the best way to go. Its the same that u hear on the radio and its clean so u dont have to listen to it to make sure its clean. remember if u want quality you have to pay for it.

whatever man the industry failed to provide affordable media. I remember buying 1 cd for $15, you think thats fair??? So you go ahead and spend your money and continue to look down at us djs that simply don't have the money to be spending on cds or single tracks. I'm so sick of hearing these djs that think that their so much better than anyone else cause they spent so much on music and talk people out of gettiing music faster than they did or at a cheaper price. Man let people do what they want, you wanna spend thousands on your music you go right ahead knock yourself out!!!! What a freakin hater
