I will try to help...I have this controller but I have the dual deck (controller + dual deck = MEP7000).

You say "I can see that my mixer reacts when music is loaded", what do you mean by that statement? A) Audio on the left deck of the controller is playing out of the soundcard into the mixer? or B) Controller is controlling the VDJ decks?

Are you getting any sound at all out of VDJ/soundcard into the mixer and does it correspond to the VDJ decks that is playing? example: left deck = channel 1 on your mixer ; right deck = channel 2 on your mixer

Answer these and then I will know where to go next...

Thanks JayMSY.
i have the MEP7000, was never quite sure what it was actually called, was sold as the SEP, but it's the combined units...anyway...

what i mean by the mixer reacts when music is loaded, is that, when im playing a tune on say, the left deck in vdj, i can see the volume bars and bpm counter on my mixer responding to that, but i get no sound from my main speakers.

it is set up that left deck on vdj=channel 2 on mixer, right deck=channel 3. now, anything i do with the mixer does not appear in vdj (crossfade, killswitch, eq, etc).
it's as if the mixer is getting an input, ie: sensing music, but not an output, ie: playing the actual music thru speakers.

the only sound i can get out from my mixer is if i plug headphones into the actual unit, and yes, it corresponds the way it should regarding left deck/channel 2 : right deck/channel 3.

i have sent a few emails to pioneer, but havent had any answer from them

What mixer do you have? I have the DJM-3000.

Here is how I have my my MEP-7000 and Mixer configured..

VDJ Left Deck Channel 1 (Mixer)
VDJ Right Deck Channel 2 (Mixer)

The only soundcard I use is the built-in soundcard on the MEP-7000. If you are seeing the levels move on your mixer when you are playing music through VDJ AND can control the VDJ decks with the controller AND can hear the music through your headphones through the mixer then I would be led to believe the problem is with the output of your mixer to your amp/speakers.

It sounds like you have VDJ and the MEP-7000 set up correctly and the issues likes with your mixer. I would verify in VDJ (Config/Sound Setup) you are using the Pioneer MEP-7000 driver

It really sounds like an issue with your mixer and NOT the MEP-7000.

if you're controller does not have the built in soundcard then you do not have the MEP-7000. The MEP-7000 is this http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/Dual-Players/MEP-7000

I looked at the jpg in your link. It looks like you have it wired correctly and VDJ sound setup configured correctly as well so the issue lies somewhere with your mixer. Make sure the MASTER knob on the right side is at straight up or all the way to the right.

How are you going from the MASTER output of the mixer to your amp (if you have one) then to your speakers?

If the controller works with VDJ like normal and you are getting sound into your mixer AND can hear the audio in your headphones from MASTER AND CUE (the slider on the far right going left to right) then the issue lies with the MASTER OUTPUT jacks into your amp/speakers.

It's possible you have a defective mixer.

ahh, then it is the SEP...i dont have the cd part.

the master output may well be the problem, i dont know where to connect it....tried a few things, but at best all we have had is a loud buzzing noise.

as you say, everything else appears to be set up ok, and the mixer actually works if i listen thru my 'phones, so i'm beginning to think it is the master output after all

To eliminate the mixer as the problem, if you have a second mixer use a pair of rca cables and go from the master output of the behringer into a line in on the second mixer. If the audio sounds clean on the second mixer then it is not your beheringer mixer.

You did not answer how you are going from your behringer mixer to your amp and/or speakers.

What is the make and model of your speakers? Im not sure if you can plug directly to the speakers...might can but its certainly not how I do it on mobile systems. The output of the mixer goes into a crossover then output of the crossover to the various amps (use 3 sometimes 4 amps for a set up). My mixers use xlr for master output and the inputs on the crossover is xlr as well. Since your behringer master out is rca you may have to go from rca to quarter inch plugs.

unfortunately we dont have a second mixer to try this out on, however, tonight when we tried again we were getting some popping noises from the amp, the set up is exactly as you have....master out->crossover->amp.
now im beginning to think that the problem is either the crossover or the amp itself.

what i have done is bring home the equipment to see if i can get it to play through my speakers at home.
i connected the master out on the mixer to line in on my pc's soundcard, great, i have sound....but its not quite right....

the left deck plays perfect stereo (through all speakers), however the right deck only has sound going to left speakers.

soooo...i'm still not sure if it's the mixer, crossover or amp thats the problem.

if i can get sound from both decks to play through all my speakers then i can rule out the mixer. how should i connect the master to my soundcard, and do i have the channels set up properly?

Can't answer that question without knowing what soundcard you have that you are plugging into? You may need an rca y cable to mini headphone type plug id your cpu soundcard only has an 1 stereo input jack.

sorry, card is an asus xonar d2x.
i have the cable and so far only tried the aux line in.

Okay that helps. Looking at the specifications for linein you will need an rca Y to mini jack so you may go from the behringer master output rca (red/white) and the mini plug goes into the xonar.

You should hear left/right with both vdj decks through your behringer mixer routed thru your linein on your xonar.

Fyi: after this post I probably wont be able to help again until Monday as I have gigs all weekend.

I think the good news is your sep-c1 is not the problem so you didn't waste money on the controller.

i already have it set up like that JayMSY, the problem is that on the right deck, i only hear sound through my left speakers, whereas the left deck plays through all my speakers.

not to worry tho, as this was just to confirm working equipment, glad that the controller aint screwed:)

amp is working, as i hooked up the old vinyl set up, looks def like my rane ac crossover.

thanks a bunch JayMSY, you're really helped us out big style, as we were all starting to blame the new kit or vdj not being able to hook up with it......sorted just in time for a 16th party on sunday as well:)

kudos to ya

Taco: I'm just checking to see where you are...did you get it all sorted out?

yeh, all sorted brother....got a friend who works in a pub to let me (sneakily) use their rig, definitely the crossover, so now have to look for another one lol!

so, what we initially planned to spend has well and truly been annihilated..not to worry, well happy with the SEP now that we know it works with VDJ:)

again JayMSY, thank you

alrighty good. Glad I could help! :-)
