Topic: Budget Dj controller for Mac

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi, i've been researching midi controllers to start out on. However for macs it seems that there is a limited choice.

The Vestax spin comes with djay and i've read this software is more than limited.

As i'm a student after purchasing a controller i will have to save up over a good 4 months again to afford virtual dj. However i've read that the new version of the spin is not even supported at the moment on mac vdj.

I really see little options, any help ?

Have you looked at all the controllers that come with VDJ in the Products/Hardware page on this site? Many of them are supported on a MAC.

As far as budget makers, Numark and Hercules have both had a long history of supporting the MAC. I personally have Numark's iCDX units and a Hercules DeeJay Trim 4&6 without issues with VDJ. I can't vouch for the all-in-one units, but many state they support the MAC and include a special version of VDJ for their controller.

I have the Hercules MK4 which came with VDJ LE and works great on my mac.

VDJ also works very well on my mac.

I have a mac and I use the Hercules RMX and love it as a noob. I did have the MK4 but it didn't have a sound card so you cant listen to the other deck to cue it up not unless you already have a sound card then you good to go..

Thanks for the responses, greatly appreciated.

So what would you guys say was better out of the:

Numark Mixtrack pro
Hercules RMX.

From what i've heard for value for money, the mixtrack pro seems to be what people recommend for a beginner?

Cheers.

Both are very good and you won't go wrong with either one but here are the differences:

RMX has better build quality (aluminum),
smaller jog wheels (less ideal for scratching)
more input and output choices, has 1/4" or RCA outs, 2 of em.
and 1 line input for connecting say, an iPod
more compact unit

Mixtrack Pro has lower price (slightly)
all plastic construction
better jog wheels but not great
bigger unit
hot cue buttons
only 1 RCA out, no 1/4" or line in.

It's up to you, both are good.

The mixtrack pro has 2 RCA outputs.
