Just seen a M15x with I3 ,6 gigs ram ,and the standard 1 gig nVidea card go for $750 on ebay (free shipping!)...whew....

I recently bought a new Dell laptop and I looked at the alien series,I found though that the normal XPS series were better speced and cheaper or the same price.
 
I hear ya Charlie....the Xps i like is the older model that looks like an Alienware.someone is selling a XPS 1710 on craigslist,that thing is a tank! wondered if it can be upgradeable in anyway...he's got duo core and 4 gb ram but only 667mhz...and a nvidea 512mb card.
 
Loving the back lit keyboards! Makes a club gig a bit easier.

I just upgraded the XPS to a 750gb hd and now the screen flickers like mad!

Oh what fun it is to be a DJ, maybe a faulty hd or maybe it's the wrong type of hd? are there more than one type or can any 2.5 be used in any machine? that is the question.

PS,

This bad boy has 2gb video ram, 6gb normal ram, i7, backlit keyboard etc. Shame it doesn't work lol
 
Ouch!...what year is that xps charlie? specs wise sounds hot...maybe you installed something wrong...sounds like you hit something pertaining to the video card while putting the new drive in.its easy to do,all them them wires close together...
 
Anyway...the thing with Little brothers are they're allways the spoiled one and then they compete with Big Brother...Arghh....he actually has not 1,not 2,but 3 Alienware desktops in the freakin house first he got the duo which he upgrade all the stuff inside (now wifeys to go to Facebook)then he got his first Quad Alien (now his son,spoiled allready) then he got his 6 core....(jeeez) ,then bought his first lappy, "Baby" alien m11x which he allready's talking about replacing its guts and turning it into the Bionic Alien ...Fanatic...
 
Jeeezz!!! I had that m15xi-R1 in my hands! (on EBAY)..last 5 seconds got beaten by $7 (?!?!) sold for $505 !! the slightly older Area 51 m15x but with the 2.60 ghz processor,4 gig ram,dual hdd amointing to 800 gigs...jeeezz :-( missed my next $10 throw down by a second and a half !
 
It the latest model, the old hd is back in now and it works fine so it must have been driver issues.

The 750GB is also ok, it's now in an old Dell and workes fine.
 
nice charlie!...ooohh but my heart it set on that little "bug eyed" alien....the thing is I've been dreaming of these since the Area 51 model.do you guys know the m9700 model nice big 17 inch.usually comes with a Amd x 64 processor but read somewhere that a amd turion II and some other duo core might fit in that socket.and of course like a desktop you can upgrade some stuffon it.of that model the Cyborg Green one its the classic collectable one...heavy as a tank if you have dual hdd & n-videas in it...but i still like that classic look with the gilles..

O.k. Just missed out on a M9700 for $310 on Ebay,and yesterday the m15x (with a i3 processor though i rather get an i5 or i7 ) newer model for $575 (!?!?) whatda? gotta practice hittin that Bid Button faster...
 
I don't know about the US but in Australian ebay site we have the option of "1 click bid" the option will be available after you have made a bid on an item and the item has less than one hour to go. With this you can usually get 3 or 4 bids in in the last 10 seconds. If you don't have that option I would raise the bid 51$ or 76$ if I really want something and I'm prepared to pay for it. Last tip never raise it in 5$ or 10$ denominations, if you raise it another dollar the other bidder has to go even higher and may be discouraged from bidding further. Good luck with ebay and try not to get addicted, although I spose it's better than gambling cause if you lose you lose nothing and if you win you win big... might have to have a look at ebay LOL
 
oh ....yesterday i got my 9 cell battery for my dell in the mail.$20+$10 shipping!! yeah i know,i scored.thats after the Lappy came back from Repairs.and the Tech sayd the crashing (on account of the old battery was way dead ,a year old,6 cell ,costed me $89 at a store) and it would run out unpredictably,was not good for it...and the hard drive...but then i saw this 9 cell "new" ,starting at 99 cents!! 2 day bid,I sayd "give me that,I need it bad!''...then "thank you!"...nice 'cause i was'nt sure if the 9 cell would fit...works like a charm...
