I'm in the unfortunate position of not having the money to be a DJ

I have been DJing for 4 months with virtual DJ home free addition (7.02). I recently decided to buy the MP3 E2 from Hercules but because I'm 12 I have to wait until Easter even though I'm buying the product myself.

That's all fine but my first problem is the sound card. I have decided to go for the Audio 2 DJ. The sound card costs £80 which would be fine because I have the money in my savings (the one I'm allowed assess to)but my parents are very reluctant to let me purchase expensive items ( especially something as small as a sound card).

My next problem is buying Virtual DJ pro as this costs £200 I do not have the money for this and my parents won't buy it for me. even if I did have the money they probably wouldn't let me buy it.

Thirdly I have no speakers and don't know which one to get and I can't afford them anyway.

The headphones I use cost £5 and there stereo headphones (pro luxe noa-850 they might have been worth something new) not DJ headphones.

My question is how can I raise funds ( I can't get a job not even a paper round because I'm to young and I already do chores)

Also what speakers should I get if I did actually get the money

I know the MP3 E2 comes with virtual DJ Le, but that is not a long term solution.

Thx

how about making up mixes from vdj and selling them to your friends or at school.
clean windows deliver leaflets ect.we all start somewhere mate just get the inspiration to start and realise that when you work hard you get what you want
real dj equipment and the enjoyment of earning money as a dj in time to come

have thought about it maybe i will try it but what about copyright on songs or can you only be sued if you keep the song exactly the same.

Reproducing or selling any copyrighted material in the UK is illegal irrespective if it's mixed or not.

I don't think you can get a part time job after school or at weekends until you're 14 either. Maybe your parents will support you a bit more if you can prove to them you're serious about being a DJ

Good to see some real enthusiasm coming through at such a young age though :)

well there goes that idea maybe it will just take along time to get basic equipment

Hi mate.

Some ideas.

Have a chat with your school to see if they would help out. Perhaps they already have some equipment that you could practice on. Or would be prepared to let you get involved with the schools dance or social events.

With your parents assistance, try putting an add in your local free adds paper. You never know someone might have some spare equipment that they could give you free or V cheap.

Perhaps you should look at a controller with a built in sound card. That way if you get the LE version of VDJ free you only have to get the amplifier and speakers. To start with an old stereo hifi amp and speakers would do the job to work with at home. Don't be afraid to look at second hand stuff for these, but try to find someone who (again with your parents help) can check the equipment for you. Don't wory about your headphones. If they work. Thats fine for now.

I wish you the best of luck mate! Enjoy your music and the rest will come in time.

i could suggest something which could earn you money but its slow and time consuming and requires patience, join some paid to click sites and click on the ads thy provide but before joining any site do some research for some sites are scam and don't pay a penny. sorry but i suppose im not allowed to post or spam urls in here so you could google it urself :-)

hope it helps earn you something.

thx everyone

Daz your idea of the school wouldn't work but the idea about the newspaper may work.

the idea about the website woundn't work because my parents won't let me do that

thx again for the ideas so far

Sorry non-licensed users are not allowed to post contact information

just had a idea I was thinking instead of buying a sound card i could get a Hercules RMX it cots £170 but comes with a sound card the only problem with that is that I probably won't be allowed to get this and it would take longer for me to afford

Hi mate

Great idea. You could also look at the Herculese MK4. Its a little cheaper and also has a built in sound card.

You could always see if you could persuade your parents to pop down to your local sales room/auction house and see if you can pick up an amp and speakers there. Sometimes you can pick stuff up for just a few quid.

mk4 doesn't have to good reviews compared to rmx and mk4 doesn't come with virtual dj le so i'll try and get rmx

yes u good choice i guess for i see almost half the users here own one.

Just Work On Your Dj Skills On VDj Your CP Has Speaker On It Just Don't Play It To Loud,And Get As Much Music As You Can Free Or Buy It.When You Have Schools Dances And Try To Play For Them Free I Sure Your School Have A PA/Audio Equipment. Some One Can Hear You Play And Maybe You Will Get Some Party Gigs.

Hi mate

The Herc Console MK4 was just a cheaper alternative for you. BTW it comes with VDJ LE. The RMX is a better console without a doubt. Nice to see you diong the research.

Building your music collection is also good advice as ultimately this is you most important tool of the trade.

Once again, best of luck
