Anything special I have to do to even get vdj to just recognize my apc20? Won't even show up in the mappers.

You need to upgrade to VDJ Pro Full. Right now, VDJ will only look for your RMX since you have VDJ LE.

I've since got it working and I highly recommend a controller of this type for mapping effects / samples. Has really allowed me to branch out from what I could do on just my RMX alone.
