Topic: Hercules RMX microphone configuration problems

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hello,

I am using VDJ 7 and the Hercules RMX and I am having issues with the whole microphone setup..

Everything is connected. When I press the button (on the RMX) to turn the mic on, I hear it and it sounds very good. However..
when I try to record it does not pick the mic up at all.. I have tried a number of configurations both in the Hercules control panel, and within Virtual DJ's configuration options.

Some of the configuration combos I tried resulted in things like.. the mic picking up sound even while it was turned off and getting extremely loud with a huge echo when I actually turn the mic on.

Can someone please help me figure this out or share a working configuration with a similar setup?

everything else in my setup works fine.
all connections are secure
all of my equipment is good pretty good quality. (in terms of quality, the RMX is probably the lowest grade item in my setup so I'm confident that there is no hardware problem)
any help is appreciated.

thanks in advance!

Okay I went through this a while back, so what's up is the Hercules RMX's Microphone is pure analog it doesn't even touch the virtual DJ program. It interfaces with the Hercules DJ program on your computer ( not VDJ) to know whether or not it should pass sound and other than that if the mode is set right passing vocals into the mix is done purely on the sound card.

How to remedy this: If you're recording you can take an RCA to 1/8th inch and run it into your computers microphone slot and enable recording in the advanced sound configuration tab. Another way would be to simply use an 1/8 inch mic, and enable one of the decks as a mic in. While in mic in mode the deck will not spin but it will act is if the sound playing over it, is infact an MP3, meaning effects and simple recording are still available.

VDJ 7 works a little differently than previous version since there were a lot of changes to the audio routing.

Select this configuration:

- Input : Microphone

- Output(s): Headphone > Master Chan1/2 / headphone Chan3/4

-Soundcard: DJ Console Rmx,

This way, VDJ will be able to record the mic as an external audio source for recording.

Using the first option you mention; it records the music and the mic. However.. It seems that the recording is mono perhaps? It plays through both sides, but I notice on this particular track a certain sound. This sound pans left to right and has an echo normally, but in the recording you only hear half of it. You can tell something is missing if you are familiar with the tune. I'm also worried that the quality of the recording may be reduced with the additional routing.. May have to work with this for the time being

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate any help

Hi,

I tried your recommendation and it ALMOST worked! Perhaps if I break down what happened you can help me figure out how to perfect it.

I'll describe the configuration and then the effect it had

1. output = USB Streaming 1-2 (default) / input = mic / result = when speaking into the mic there is a delay and the mic is active even when I have not turned it on. The recording however sounds good.

2. output = USB Streaming 1-2 (default) / input = line in/phono / result = mic is only active when it's supposed to be (when I press the button), and the sound is good as well (no delay) BUT it will not record.

3. output = USB Streaming 1-2 + Microphone / input = mic / result = mic always on and there is now an echo. Recording is fine.

4. output = USB Streaming 1-2 + Microphone / input = line in/phono/ result = automatically switches output to 'USB Streaming 1-2 + Line in 1-2'

5. output = USB Streaming 1-2 + Line in 1-2/ input = line in/phono / result = mic behaviour is normal, but will not record.

perhaps there is an adjustment that can be made elsewhere in the system to make one of these work.. btw My operating system is Windows 7 (should have mentioned that in my original post)

This document will explain what you need to know about the DJ control panel and recording the microphone.

Steps 3 and 8 have changed with VDJ 7, but the rest still applies.

there is no link

Unfortunately that didn't work either.. Looks like I'll just have to work with one of these setups until I can get rid of this RMX..

Thanks for taking the time out to try and help.
