Topic: So latest on Numark Mixdeck????

Has there been any difinitive answer on whether the Numark Mixdeck will work with the latest VDJ pro? I would like to know if there is an adequate skin out there for MAC that allows for video and all controls on the deck such as the IPOD interface and USB controls for thumb drives etc. I realize from other posts that the fader is a mechanical one and not a MIDI one but other than that???

I was wondering about this too, I started using the latest VDJ with my Numark Mixdeck yesterday for the first time on my Macbook Pro, and the mixer on the Numark does not work. The decks work fine, but the center mixer/fader/everything- is non existent. I keep reading that the Mixdeck is not midi mapped so it cannot be used with Virtual DJ, does this mean I it would work with another software? What does it mean to be midi mapped? Would the mixer work with Traktor or any other software for that matter? I really hope I didn't spend my money on the Numark for its mixer to not be responsive to DJ software.
 
I am at a gig right now that I have been using the mixdeck at for about 2 months and love it, works perfectly with the latest drivers from numark installed on the laptop for the sound and as for the midi control it is ONLY for the 2 decks, the ipod interface is just a dock like is coming out on the latest stereo's, you can play from the Ipod but you can't cue or scratch the ipod, as for usb and cd's they are selected via 2 separate settings on each individual deck. I also recommend spending the extra $$ on the roadcase as it makes the setup look alot neater if you are a mobile dj like myself.

As for the video I normally just leave the crossfaders linked while using the normal full skin that comes standard with VDJ

as I just posted install the drivers on the cd that came with the mixdeck then make sure that the source switch above the ch1 & ch2 faders are set to PC and then select source on each deck and change to USB MIDI, you can control the decks but as for the audio its like having an external soundcard built into the mixdeck the faders do nothing to the software (silver center section is non midi but black outside sections are midi and pre-mapped in the latest versions to work perfectly)
 
Im not sure if you understand what I mean, Kookies. I am not using the mixer in the middle for the iPod, I mean I am trying to use it as I would normally, meaning cross fading from one deck to the next, turning the gain/bass/treble/mids knobs, turning the cue etc. When I have Virtual DJ/laptop hooked up to the Numark Mixdeck, the mixer on the Mixdeck cannot be used. The ONLY thing I can control are the left and right deck. When I scratch, change pitch, etc, it is synced with my laptop/Virtual DJ and I can see the plates on the screen moving. But when I try and use the mixer to cross fade or alter each decks gain/bass/mids/treble, it's like it does not exist and it doesn't register with Virtual DJ onscreen.

So you're saying even with the latest drivers installed and latest Virtual DJ software, I cannot use the center mixer, ONLY the two decks...

no I'm not saying that at all, make sure you select the switches above CH1 & CH2 are switched to PC if you do that and have the soundcard set as numark mixdeck in the settings it will work perfectly
 
Do I need Virtual DJ Pro? I believe I am running Virtual DJ 6 with the updated version I recently downloaded from this site. From what I can remember I do not have that PC option in my configurations. I can't check now I am at work :(

edit: actually i KNOW i do not have that PC option..
 
the PC selection is a switch on the mixdeck mixer above the left and right channel faders as in the picture below
 
the picture is not showing, but I know what you mean, sorry, I thought you meant in the configs on Virtual DJ.
