OK so I'm kinda flustered with Virtual..I have not had a great outing since 7 came out..I thought it was my old laptop but I was wrong cause here are my specs of my new one..
HP Envy 15.6
•1.60GHz Intel Core i7-720QM processor
•15.6\" diagonal Full HD LED HP Ultra BrightView widescreen LCD display with 1920x1080 resolution
•6144MB DDR3 system memory
•500GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive
•ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics M97 with up to 3835MB total graphics memory
Here is a picture of the amount of not responding issue just in one night out.. I had back up CD\'s ready to go when a issue pops up so no dead air was had..
This machine is stripped clean and only for Virtual Dj..

So please do not tell me it's the machine this thing should be able to handle this program with out any problems..I am tech savy and understand pc..
Last note I was playing Vidoes and using my ICDX's as my controls as I have for years with my DjTrim sound card..

You've said that 7 is giving you problems, are you able to run earlier versions on this machine? Have you tried a fresh download & install? If it works for so many, why not you? I am not tech savvy, and it works on four of my machines. I know you don't want to hear that, but do you think they sent you bad software, and everyone else the good stuff? We all have the same software, so it should work for you also.
Also, does it work without the controllers?

Does it stop working when you are using it for MP3 playback or just when you are using it for video? Is there any more info you can give us? When does it happen? How often?

@ A Man not saying I got a bad copy just trying to figure this out... No I have not tried it without the controllers. I am using the newest version 7.0.3.
@ Super Its does not happen on mp3 play back just when playing vids , as far as info there's no rime are reason for the not responding issue as too when and are how often..
I'm going to say it's not the controls cause they have worked on every other version I have had. I could try going backwards with version but would lose some feature of the new version I like, but if I gets me running rock solid again I fine with that...
If someone could point out how to use the registry tool I could modify it there in hopes of getting this fixed I read that tool helps some.

I would suggest to check your Graphic Display drivers first...
If it stop's only when you're doing video then most likely it's a video drivers issue...
If VDJ crashed on you then it should create a crashguard report txt file. Send this file to the team via a support ticket. They will be able at least to analyze the file and see if it's due to video drivers, ext controller, e.t.c...

Try going back to version 7.0.2 you may need to put a support ticket in to get this version, unless of course you have a saved copy that you can use.

@ Phantom if it crashed yes it would give me a report but it's not crashing it just not responding and frieze's , but I will check the drivers again maybe I missed something who knows..
@ Tayla If I were to roll back I would go back to 5.2.1 that version I was rock solid for years I didn't even try the 6 version..
I will get a screen shoot using the FPS screen shoot when I get home tonight so you guys can see some more info...
Thanks for all the help guys it helps a ton..

I'm not sure if any of this will help
I have the HP 4190us laptop with very similar specs.
1.6 quad core 2.8 turboboost
1 gig harddrive
1gig dedicated video ram plus 3 more shared
i7 processor
beats audio
windows 7
virtual dj 7.03
I'm currently running video and now firetext together without any issues...of course it took a lot of trial and error to get to this point.
I also had video issues.
My first issue was when playing a video file it would skip and stutter. after trying uninstalling and reinstalling every audio and video driver i could nothing worked. What ultimately worked for me was turning of the Crashgaurd protection off that is part of most hp laptops.
Thinking everything was fine i kept testing ..only to discover after running several tests that the program would freeze and stop playing video
This was being caused by a video memory leak....There's a thread somewhere in the forums about this
after editing the registry...by changing a mem value it stopped the leak and voila...no more issues
It was a long and painful journey...that often seemed insurmoutable... so don't give up hope

I will look into the video leak thread..

Well after a few hours of digging on the forums I think I have cracked my problem with my not responding...I have been doing some testing all night as I left the lap top running on auto mix with videos playing and 4 effects running also, NOT out putting the videos but I will try out putting them tonight as well ,I will now hook up my controls and hard drives as I would at a gig and test some more tonight..
And all I did was make some changes to the registry with the registry tool... Which where inputted 250 into the video mem max use... and updated to 7.0.3 from 7.0.2...
Who knows but this is a good sign for now... We shall see with further testing...
Thanks again for all the input...

in some cases of video issues / crashing, try rolling back your graphics driver to a few previous versions.
this helped me with my ATI brand new ATI card.
