I am just curious if I can use my audio out for a powered Sub? I am currently using a pair of M-Audio 300s (cheap start yes), but would love some bass. Just wondering if I have to go ahead and get a full setup or if I can just add a sub.
Cheers,

Most subs will have a pass through so you can send the mixtrack output to the sub then pass it out to your mains. What subs are you looking at?

Heard great things about this guy

This is just for my bedroom/mixing station ... so not going extreme here ... budget pending as well of course heheh

I couldn't find any info about your mains online - I did find a 300 watt m-audio set of mains but I think they are not what you are using.
For practice use or very small rooms like a living room I think the M-audio would work well and be balanced with your mains, it has an adjustable crossover built in and balanced XLR ins and outs which I am guessing match to your mains.
Keep in mind when you move to doing even small mobile gigs you will need a system with significantly more power.
The other option is really just a home theater sub and would not work for your purposes
If you could provide specs for your mains that would help too :)

You can use the RCa outputs for a powered sub.. I mean if you are buying something for a home setup. In my dj room, i use two small powered speakers with 6 1/2 woofer. The brand is Stageworks (SSKFP206A) and i also have a 10 inch JBL home theatre 150 watt powered subwoofer. It sounds really good and the bass shakes that walls.
The connections are... 1/4 inch booth output of the mixer to the speakers. The subwoofer can be hooked up from the RCA outs of the mixer, controller etc. My Home theatre Sub has RCA line input.. LFE and RCA L & R inputs. I use L & R Rca's.
If this item is still available, buy it. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/800773187-USE/JBL_ES250PCH_ES250PC_Powered_Subwoofer_Cherry.html
Its a better deal than the one you posted and your getting more power (BOOM)

Does that JBL have crossed over outputs? It looks like just inputs. The M-audio has crossed over outputs that will only send the mids and highs to his existing speakers which with drivers that small I think would be a big help to keep distortion down. Definitely don't need XLR's but I thought it was nice to see them included as options. (actually this sub only has XLR and 1/4" outputs but RCA inputs htere is apic of the input panel ont h "more images" link)
If you go with a sub like the JBL without outputs you will need to split your signal coming out of the mixtrack with RCA splitters.
The JBL definitly gives you more bang for the buck but the m-audio seems like it might coordinate with his existing setup for a cleaner sound. Never heard of m-audio speakers before so have no Idea how they sound. JBL on the other hand has a pretty solid rep.
Either one will probably work fine it is just a matter of wiring difference
EDIT:
looked around a lot at the m-audio stuff and they get some pretty stellar reviews - didn't see anything listed as a 300 though - do you have the AV-30's maybe?

Sorry yes 30s are what I have. They suck unless cranked to the point of my windows shaking (but I bought the cheapest on purpose for testing and side use) ... which brings me to the sub I got. :D I'm grinning ear to ear right now and my teeth are vibrating. So stoked!

I have that thing turned down to almost "0" and it's shaking everything in my room. This thing is overkill for a small studio, but god damn does it punch/draw bass/rumble perfectly tight on all sounds. I'm loving it.
Yeah, that JBL was a wrong post too. I blame A.D.D. ;D
