Ok I'm tried of hearing about these colored waves other programs have. Yeah they may look nice but with the way VDJ stacks the rhythm waves on top it would never work, besides that you shouldn't be ridin waves anyways. You mix with your ears and don't give me that crap about how technology this technology that, I'm not buying it!! And another point, VDJ does not support vertical rhythm waves so no that's not an option for you. My point is you should put alittle more thought into why you want these because as I have pointed out they won't work and if VDJ did give you them you'd cry about how you couldn't tell one from another.................

Think about it, ridin waves is only fun in a wave pool or the ocean..........

Adding serato color wave form to vdj would only proves which software is more popular....

so tell me this: if VDJ implemented something from a popular software, some of that popularity might rub off on VDJ and DJs that use VDJ???

BRING ON THE LADIES!!!

It seems to be working for traktor 2.... A lot of djs are making the switch, mainly because of the color wave form.

As for the dj using vdj getting popular it's hard to say... Haven't seen any popular dj using vdj

Huey, the popular dj

sorry i forgot to write *end sarcasm* im not serious hell no bro i could care less what the popular DJ software has... its about the DJ not about what makes the DJ

The Joker. :D

Lmao!! I was gonna say. But its sad to admit there are people out there who do think that way.

Huey, there are a few VDJ skins with vertical scrolling waveform already, the only thing missing is the color. Be careful what you say is not posssible when it already exists, it decreases your credibility.

I started mixing in clubs on 1200s in the early 80s, I know how to mix (some say quite well!). I like the waveforms because my ears are not what they used to be and it makes it easier to do what I have to do.

Rusty

i think he meant scratch waves WITH the highs lows and mids colored

Show me the skins cause as far as I know you can only have vertical "scratch". And this was just mentioned in the skin forum.......ill post the quote here in a minute. And ok your ears aren't what they used to be, how's a colored wave gonna make a difference??

Huey

Here's what the skin master DJDAD said,
djdad wrote :
Not possible. Only scratch wave can be vertical.

And here the thread,
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/146495/VirtualDJ_Skins/vertical_rithm.html

whats the difference in waveform and scratchwave, that may be my misunderstanding. This is one of the skins I am referencing: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/5884/Turntablist.html
I am not at all trying to reference any other software merely saying that another DJs needs may not match your own. Who is to say which is right? There are TONs of features within VDJ that I think are pointless and useless to my style of DJing but that doesn't mean that others don't think those features are gold.
Putting Ideas on the table is never a bad thing and ultimately makes our software grow and get better. VDJ is ALWAYS looking for ways to improve. Ask for ANYTHING, who knows if it is possible.

Rusty

I think the colored waveforms look nice.

Ok I understand your point. But these guys should really come up with better reasons. I mean come on, we want it cause it looks cool or because someone else has it. Those are lame arguments. And the only difference in the waves that I can see is, the rhythm wave has the grid attached to and will expand or contract when changing pitch where as the scratch wave has neither. Maybe a skin master can give us a better explanation.

Huey

There will always be novice and wannabe DJs that are strictly in it for the cool factor. I agree that sometimes feature requests are not always logical but that is what the VDJ developers get to sort out. I am actually amused at some of the stuff that people ask for, kinda makes for interesting reading on a boring day. :)

Rusty

One thing I learn from dealing with technology is to never commit to any one thing.

And I stand corrected, in that link i posted DJ Cel just confirmed you can have vertical rhythm waves!

It just seems like last year everybody wanted 4 decks like serato and this year its we want colored waves like traktor. What nobody likes torq, Lmao!!

Huey

Colorized waves representing lows ,mids, highs would be something cool and it does not have anything to do with the fact other software have those wave forms (scratch live, itch, traktor, torq....you will see mixvibes will have them too). I'm not a scrathing guy I just mix music....have you noticedthat some dj's switch to ....serato and traktor...dj rude, dj bl3nd etc... and they're not scrathing guys...

And ill repeat it here aswell,
Ok for the record cause I know I come off as a shallow piece of work, Lmao, I own VDJ pro, Serato, and yes Traktor pro 2. I can use all 3 very well equally. The things I can't stand about the other 2 right off the bat is the way you have to add your music, Traktors not as bad as Serato but it sucks. Next mapping Traktor is hell!! Serato well you get what they give and its no where close to what you can do with VDJ. Traktor does not do video, I spin videos, Serato well pretty much sucks when it comes to video. It can be done but pretty much only on a MAC, go to there forums and tell them your pc isn't working for videos, all they say is get a MAC. Wave forms I could give a crap about. Do they look good, yes, are they nesscery for me to mix no! Bottom line for me is the customization that you can do we VDJ plus nobody does video like them in my opinion........ So there you have it.

Surfs up
Huey

And I forgot I do own the Video SL also.

Well I am happy for you and VDJ aim to please so there. I also own and still use all three software and with that I say to each his own.
