Good to see this topic come back to life. Atomix will always listen to feedback both good and bad. I aslo want to personally thank everyone that posted in this topic and thanks to those who will post here in the future. Without you guys (and gals) Atomix wouldn't be where it is now. We've grown quite a bit in the past three years, but don't think for a second we would forget how we got here. This is one of the best communities of global DJ's I've ever had the privilege of being involved in and the rate its growing is staggering. My hats of to you the Virtualdj community!

- Develop more revenue streams.
---Netsearch subscription is a great service, and for $10 per month it's a steal! The addition of a separate music video netsearch using some kind of official channel in addition to youtube, etc might be pretty popular. I'm sure people would pay more for that kind of service. And if there's no content partner available, let's set one up! (That's what ebay did when they realised they needed a global payment system.. They invented paypal!)
---Seriously look at a subscription model for vdj pro in addition to download purchase. I don't think it would be a major income stream, but think of all those no licence users that can't try out a feature properly in the free home version due to the time limit. We can just say: pay $15 and try the full version for a month or two! Then once they're confident with the software after a month or two they'll probably buy it anyway. And you could offer discounts for people who have previously rented the software, or even something like if you rent it for 24 months then you now own the full version. There's loads of possibilities.
---Seriously think about an "app store" model for the plugins download section. All the free plugins that have been released so far remain free, but any new plugins made can be monetised by the developer, if they want to do that. Just like the apple app store the developer decides on the price (or they can give it away for free if they like) and then vdj gets a percentage of all sales. Apparently apple gets 30% - imagine if atomix got even just 10% or 20% of all the firetext and flash visuals sales! :D And an app store could improve user experience rather than buying from external websites (first job for the new focus group!).

Excellent post!
Pretty much what I was going to write until I got to your post!
(anything I say is just my opinion. feel free to flame away LOL .)
Netsearch: VDJ is positioned right now where it could be the next Itunes for DJ's. VDJ could setup its own Video/Music website where Major/Indie Labels and artists can directly access the DJ's and VDJ users.. IE: replace grooveshark and youtube with its own service..
For those that think the "labels" would not go for this.. keep in mind VDJ has built in DRM, and tracking to see what songs are actually being played. This is EXACTLY what the labels and the artists want..
subscription model: makes a lot of sense.. Major reason I think a lot of people buy VDJ over 'cracking it' is the access to the plug-ins, mappers, and tech support. A pay-per-download/use for tech support/plug-ins/apps/mappers would also work well.

add a feature that allows you to sort tracks by more than one category at a time
eg. sort by bpm, then by key. so tracks are arranged by bpm and then the bpms that are say 128, are then listed in order of key.
or any other order you preferred but this i feelwould be a bonus and make track selection on the fly a lot easier.
also id give blulite a free pro lisence ;) not everyone, just blulite....oh and dazmax cuz he's the man..

I would like to see a major update on the video drivers / output in the near future........
What I mean is more and more people are getting high-end Laptops with Windows 7 X64 etc.. and all have Direct X 10 or 11 on them and high end 3D graphics cards with them.
I think VDJ need to RE-PROGRAM that side of their software as it is still running in Direct X 9 and lots of people are reporting problems with the ** VIDEO DRIVER ERRORS ** Latency / CPU Glitches, Quality Issues and compatability problems with certain graphics cards be it -
Nvidia, ATI, Intel
I believe VDJ prides itself on its software and being the front runner in the market place. Especially the VIDEO OUTPUT and beat the competition hands down. Be it MUSIC VIDEO, KARAOKE, VISUALS etc...,
But to stay ahead of the game. I think this could and be improved (Quality, HDMI Support, 3D Card Compatability, Smoother Video Engine, Split Screens, Better Resizing Options, More Video Plugins, Multi Point Touch Screen Technology etc...)
I know this is a MASSIVE programming task, But with the computing technology moving on I hope that VDJ doesn't get left behind not being able to support the new generation of computers / hardware that is currently on the market.
Just my opinion, But a VIDEO re-program is well overdue..........
Please feel free to comment, I'd love to hear what other peoples views are ?
Not to be to negative I love VDJ BEST DJ SOFTWARE by far, Just hope the developers / programmers do the job and keep it where it is a the No. 1 in the market.
