Hey, I'll get straight to the point. I use a twin to phono lead plugged into a mixer when I play at venues but constantly have a kinda high pitch buzz in the background even when the main mixer is off. The only time this stops is when I remove the lead from my volume port on my laptop. I've looked through many posts on here today mainly all saying to get a ground loop but I obviously can't do this so any ideas? I'm not the most technical minded with this stuff but know VDJ works fine at home using this method going through my tv. I've been told it maybe a case of getting an adapter for the mic port so I'm going through that instead of the volume one & it'll be a lot better.

You most likely have a ground loop which is a very common issue for laptops, especially those that don't have a double insulated power supply.
To solve, you will need to purchase and use a ground loop isolator (Search Google to find these.) They do not cost very much and will solve the problem.
