I have searched but can not find the topic about Logitech camera drivers 'conflicting' with VDJ and some plugins. I am now on my third webcam and VDJ will not open up unless i disable the webcam. It's a $100 Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p. The previous cameras were Logitech 310 & 510. I think i narrowed down the problem to the Firetext Plugin because all is good when i remove it from the effect plugins. Was there any other solution besides disabling camera. I love the plugin but it does me no good to have this crytal clear camera if i cant use it with such an awesome plugin. I have never been able to use the camera function with firetext; only the original VDJ camera plugin. Also, it's obviously not only Logitech cameras because i had to disable my HP Webcam also or VDJ would get suck on the 'loading plugins' portion of the startup.
Thanks In Advance

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! After talking with Tayla he walked me through some simple steps to fix the problem. We had to unstil the onboard HP Webcam and the CyberLink software attached to it to get the Microsoft camera to work. The only problem is it automatically re-installed the camera when i rebooted but all still work fine except now in the Firetext plugin the cameras (in the drop down box) are labeled backwards (HP Webcam is label Microsoft LiveCam and vice versa); not a problem though. Long story short, for HP DV5 series laptops, uninstall the HP Webcam and Cyberlink Software if your FireText plugin crashes VDJ.
Tayla,
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
I will be calling you when my tour is up and I am back in the US for the Text/SMS feature of FireText.

Hey Steve, glad I could help, I think I'd better explain to the other guys it actually isn't the Firetext plugin that was the problem, anyway here is how we got everything hunky dory back down in South Korea.
Simplified version... rebooted VDJ, ran a few plugins in the video effects tab, all worked fine, closed any open plugins and activated free Firetext plugin, ran vertical and horizontal text scrolling, image and image rotator tabs, showed Steve how to use the save feature in template tab, while all of these were running started the movie tab and put moving logo onto screen, obviously Firetext running fine.
Introduced the Firetext camera plugin into the equation and this is where it hung up, I then realised Steve had an on board web cam as well as an usb camera he had purchased, cut a long story short I got Steve to uninstall his on board set up, re ran the above test then started the Firetext camera function, bingo! not a problem.
Hope the above helps someone else in the future with whatever your running or plugins your using.
