I own a salon & spa, but have not pulled any money out of it in the three years I have owned it. I eat because I DJ.

I have another job as bookings are in short supply, sometimes I don't get a gig for a month or so so I have a full time job aswell. ;(

I Dj in bars on and off bases as I am also in the Air Force.

guess i must get a full time job too for thats wht my family tells me that DJing aint gonna feed you always only a permanent job will.

DJ'ing fed me and paid my rent for 6 months when I tried it full time- but you have to do all kinds of crap gigs on week nights to make enough money to live on, and then it stops being fun!

I'm a teacher by day, and DJ'ing is just for the weekends for me. It's not very stable so I'm glad I'm not just a DJ. Between February & May I only had about 3 gigs, but now I've just got a residency on a Friday night, I'm working both Friday & Saturday pretty much every night until September.

The trick is to have a day job, but then keep building up the DJ'ing until you can afford not to have to do the day job any more!

I work full time and I DJ at clubs on weekends. I have a Sunday night gig this summer so for my summer vacation I've booked Mondays off until the end of August.

DJ is a hobby for me. I do it because I love it and I enjoy it so much.

I recently rejoined the workforce.

I have been a full time DJ for many years.

When the recession hit, things got a little tight so I took a day job to supplement my income. I have heard of "Extra Money" and "Spare Change" but I have never seen "Extra Money".

I need ALL my money. No matter how much I have or will earn, I will never understand the term "Extra Money"

I'm a DJ 1st. My OWN business comes before my employers business.

Graphic designer and illustrator for the bread, DJ for the butter... I like butter!

I only DJ for a living, been a self-employed DJ since 2002, although DJed for over 34 years.

I do 2 gigs on a Friday night, a bar & a nightclub, for the same organisation (only 100 yards apart). Then just the nightclub on a Saturday night. I DJ a total of 10 hours per week. :-)

I don't make a fortune but I must say I'm single and have lived in the same house for 23 years, which means my mortgage is very small now and my outgoings are also relatively small.

I'm going on my annual trip to Ibiza next week. Because I'm self-employed, I'll be DJing this Friday & Saturday, then fly to Ibiza on Sunday. I return on Friday and will be DJing on Friday & Saturday next week as normal. That means I don't lose any work. :-) I'm also DJing out in Ibiza as I have done for the last 5 years, not for money, it's just for a bit of fun (and it looks good on the CV). Like a supermarket loss leader I suppose lol :-)

I DJ for fun... although they do pay me too!

For a living I do all kinds of jobs: construction, computer repair, bus tours, simple graphic design, translations, hiking tours, etc. etc. I live on a small, touristic island, so money is not so hard to make if you speak a few languages.

I work a full time job in the Emergency room and try to get just the weekend gigs as a mobile dj just to get some extra cash to buy new toys with,,,,LOL

Government employee (in Canada) and Mobile DJ for weekends only.

I work at State Farm Insurance, and DJ every Thursday, Friday, And Saturday night.... <-these are residencies.. i have a mobile gig on a Sunday coming up to

I have been primarily a full time club Dj since 1982 (radio for 2 years before that) maintaining an full 4-5 nights per week far 90% of that 29 years. Although Djing has for most of that time made my primary living (and until the last 5 years a very good living at that) I have also dabbled on the side in the sign business and as a graphic designer because as rudedog says .

I have "retired" on three seperate occassions not counting the 3 times I took a leave of absence to run my own clubs (1 successful, 1 break even and 1 failure).

I keep getting sucked back in to Djing because even at $100-$150 per night at todays crap pay scale it still beats working 8 hours a day at a "real job" for the same $600 per week......especially now that jobs are soooooooo scarce in ALL fields.

government benefits at the moment due to a spinal injury from being a groundworker. im hoping to make the transition into djaying to eat better. either that or i want to open a cafe.

gotta see how my spinal rehab programme goes first..

DJ/AD EXEC/LIFE COACH/SALES COACH/MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER AND SOON TO BE AUTHOR. Co-Owner of Dustn Dreamz Off Entertainment, LLC; Owner of Coach K Media, LLC; Owner of The Coach K of Life, LLC and silent partner of my wife skin care line, Reviyve, LLC. (Blended Naturals)

I refuse to work a regular 9-5 because the pay sucks. DeeJaying was my solo bread and butter for years, then I started adding the other companies about 4 or 5 years ago one by one.

Been doin it for over 25 years full time and i have a few other dj's working for me for the last 10 years. Im a mobile dj so i see a diffrent croud all the time so it never gets boring. altho i absolutely hate i have to play the eletric slide and cupid shuffle all the time. the wobble is starting to get old. i enjoy it a lot.

engineer by day and an event planner and dj by night. dont think i would get paid as a dj as mush as i make at my day job anytime soon

I know im a little late on this post but i have been djing for over two decades . for a long time i didnt have to have another job except for just djing. one of the other members had said it. you got to do alot of crap gigs just so you can make it today. plus now you really got watch out for the under cut dj's that get you. djing you know is not just about cutting and scratching it programing. and knowing your crowd. but for a long time it was my bread and butter.
