I have a brand new mac book pro with the latest version of Virtual running on it and am having issues with some of my external drives not always showing up in the browser tab. This wouldn't be a big deal except that it prevents me from being able to maintain my database. Because of this I don't have the ability to fix, check and Clean the database library. It seems to be an intermittent problem, some weeks the externals show in the browser tab and some weeks they don't. Has anyone else experienced this kind of an issue with external drives? I had tech-support take over control of my mac and they fixed the problem for me once, but the same problem came back the next night I set up.

Oh I should also mention that I have the same issue regardless of if I am using my NTFS drives with Tuxera or my mac formatted drives.

Version 7.04 Mac. My friend has the same issue with his mac book pro running the same version. Somedays my externals show up on the browser tab and somedays they do not show up at all and I am unable to do the browser tab fix, clean and clear.

Try the solution below. This is a reply from a ticket I submitted long time ago.
And trust me, you'll get more respect and benefits from this forum if you will register the serial you said you actually have.
Cheers!
(PS Check your USB cable too. Only use USB cable that is 2.0)

Message: Please check the permissions on your VirtualDJ folder are set correctly:
* Go to the /users/YOURNAME/Documents folder and Control+Click (Right click) on the VirtualDJ folder.
* Choose Get Info from the pop-up menu.
* In the bottom right corner of the Get Info dialog, click on the pad-lock icon and unlock it (You will be prompted for your user password.)
* Then just above that to the left is the Permissions list. Make sure that your user account has Read/Write permissions set.
* Just below the Permissions box there is a button with a gear graphic on it - Click on it and choose the 'Apply to all included' items.
* Once changed, close the Get Info dialogue box to apply the changes.
NOTE: If you use external drives, you will also need to do the above for each external drive.
NOTE: If your external drive is PC NTFS formatted, then VIrtualDJ will not be able to write to it and save your database information. The drive must either be natively formatted for Mac use only, or if you wish to also use it on a PC, it must be formatted FAT32. Mac can't write to PC NTFS formatted drives.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I wonder if my current issue is related to the fact that I am using Tuxera to make the NTFS drives read and write. Altho like I said I had similar issues with the Mac OS journal formatted drives too. The registration issue I still need to resolve is because my dj partner and I bought one copy for our dj company and we share 2 machines. Therefore the software is registered under his account. I have sense found out from the forums and tech support that this is not allowed and sometime here in the near future I will need to buy a second copy of VDJ to register under my account. I just tried what you wrote as a solution. I have done this in the past, but I think it was before the latest update and before the new external drives, so maybe that was the issue. Thanks again.
