Hi everyone.
I have not used virtual dj since version 6.0.4 due to timecode drift issues but i have decided to set it all up with the latest version to see if it is any better but have seem to come into a little problem.
I have set the timecode up to the way it says in the manual with the perfect circle shape that i should see but the signal will range from 1%-40% never get 100%.
I have never had issues before with the signal as before i just set the gain, phase etc to get the near perfect circle and then the signal was 100% but that is not the case this time.
I am using brand new serato second edition vinyls and also brand new numark cc-1 carts on my numark tt200 turntables all wired up through the esi maya44 usb.
any help would be very much appreciated.

I know there are other here that say Serato works well for them but I have never been able to get that 100% with them. One night I sat around for more then a few hours trying to get perfect working timecodes. What worked for me the best was
1) Numark Virtual Vinyl timecodes (sucks that they dont make colored vinyl though)
2) Traktor
and 3) Serato (never sayed at 100% though)
So my advice is to get the Numarks.
Heres my thread, have a read and see if it helps, http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/146709/General_Discussion/Perfect_Timecodes__.html
Hope it helps

Thanks for the quick response but serato vinyls worked perfect in version 5 of virtual dj and worked ok in version 6 with constant 100%

Here is the one thing I have noticed since that post, with these,

I can get 100% and relatively keep it. They are useable in my opinion.
But with these,

I can't get a good if my life depended on it!! Now I'm no time code expert but I swear something has changed between them. Maybe a teamer can confirm or denie this little finding of mine, lol! So if you have that first style lying around try those out. As for version 5 or 6 I have always used the Numark vinyls.
Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I know something is different with those time codes I just wish I could prove it......

that mite be my problem.
The first photo you have posted is the ones i used before that worked fine.
The second photo you have posted is the ones that have been delivered today and i cant seem to get a 100% signal.
I think you could be right about them being different.
Although i have played around a little more and if i change the red and white cables around on my maya 44 and then select the switch signal phase in the debug menu i seem to get a contstant 100% which i find very strange but they seem to be working that way.

I use serato on 100%, it never fluctuates, I'm not at home so I cant take a screenshot of my setup, but all you want to do is open the timecode debug window, adjust the signal so it is as close to a perfect circle as you can get it, raise the gain a little so the diameter is around 5%- 10% bigger, then raise the silence until you get 0% then go back down to 100% and your done...
they are the ones in the second photo, but I use the blue ones now as they are a bit more rugged, and I use the shorter side, "B" I think, my reasoning is it would have better grooves because there is more space in between them

I'll be damed!! I just switched the switch signal phase and that other one so it wouldnt play backwards and there on point. OK i'm gonna run em for a few hours and see what happens
I'll be back

LOL at beatbreaker im doing the exact same thing. Cant understand how it can be differnt between the 2 serato vinyls when there both surpose to be second edition.

the sticker in the second pic you posted looks like my "new beta engine" blue vinyl's sticker. try changing your settings in the timecode config and see if it fixes your problem.

Well after a night of messing around I just can't trust the Sera to time codes, a least the new style anyways. They are no where near as tight as my Numark timecodes. Looks like I'm sticking with the Numarks and Traktor timecodes.

Yes i can confirm that the serato timcode vinyl from the second picture get a 100% signal on the new beta engine setting.

For me it looks like only that the first of them is second generation CV02.
As you need CV02 Vinyls this would explain. Look closer to the lables.

The 2nd photo is also second generation. It says in small writing around the outside second generation CV02 but something has defitnely changed between the 2 as the earlier cvo2 work fine but these new ones dont.
They seem to get a good signal on the beta serato engine but a problem i have with that is that when i drop the needle on the start of the vinyl the song always starts playin approx 30secs-1minute in.
So to sum things up virtual dj recommend serato vinyl on there website but they do not work. Whats going on there then?
Surley the dev team should look into this buy the selfs the new serato CV02 vinyl and make a noisemap engine for them that works.

What value do you have in your Timecode config / Debug / Lead time ?

I can confirm this aswell......... They are different, Serato has changed something...........And if you filp the new style over it says "SECOND EDITION CV02" on the "B" side.

The Numark are on point!!

My lead time is 500.0ms
To be honest as there is another user with the same issue i am pretty much sure serato have changed something.
Would be nice if i could get some conformation from the devs and if they will change the noisemap to match these

Hey beatbreaker.
Numark ones might work good but when virtual dj recommend using serato CV02 and i have been out and bought some i sort of have the attitude to refuse to buy any other ones as i have bought the ones VDJ recommend.

Yeah I hear ya but even Dj Caliente will tell you they work the best and I know he's all about the timecodes. And in all my trials the Serato records are just not up to par. I've had die hard Serato fanboys come over and scratch with the Numark and Serato timecodes and the Numarks respond 100 times better when using VDJ. Then I set it up so they could test VDJ with the Numarks and Serato with their timecodes and they cant feel any difference except when it came to backspins and juggling. Then it seemed like VDJ would always, well not always (98% of the time) would loose the signal. But then theres the Traktor timecodes and those out shine the Serato records aswell. And its not that I cant get 100% signal, its the fact that it wont stay. It just fluctuates, where as the Numarks might do it once every 10 min. and that usually when it reaches the end of the record. And its pretty much the same with the Traktor records for me. So thats why I push the Numark.
This is just a theroy but why would the Serato timecodes be better when VDJ develped Virtual Vinyl (the software is the same, just rebranded), so I'm guessing they had to develop the timecode signal aswell. Where as they had no say in the development of the Serato records?? Now I'm just thinking out loud here but it make sense in my mind, lol, that could get scary, lmfao!!
I guess I would like to know what the teamers use if any of them do use timecodes?? Team any input?

lol you theory does sound quite true but my point is that on this website under the hardware section at the bottom of the page in the timecode section they recommend serato and there is even a link buy button which takes you to a page to buy serato timecodes.
So you would expect them to work but the later ones clearly are not working.
Think we need to leave this to the team to look into now or even any other input from other users that are using the newer serato timecodes.
