Ok folks ive been messing with a hercules mk2 controller for about 8mnths now just to grasp some basics of mixing, however i now feel i need to upgrade my equipment as the buttons on the mk2 suck (a soft rubber compound)and the jog wheels are pathetic.
Anyway im looking for a sub £300 unit (i no its not a lot but its all i can afford at the moment.
I mainly play club scene music i.e electro house, and top 40 kinda stuff and i havent played out yet as i need more practice.
The options im looking at are as follows:
1: Numark mixtrack pro (went and had a feel of 1 today) £169 (bit plastic but its not looks im after) comes with vdj LE
2: DJ reeloop mixage interface £250 used
3: M Audio Xponent and torq software £230 used
4: A 4 month old vms4 with 8 months warrenty remaining £240.00 (however i need to up my ram on my pc for this one and also get an external hard drive as i beleive i need 40% of free hard drive to run the vms4 so it works out over my budet.
I have heard of a few issues with the vms4...
If i buy the mixtrack i can also afford to purchase mixed in key and should be able to buy a proper copy of vdj, which ive currently using.
Look forward to some advice and thank you for taking time to reply.
Many thanks.

Since one of your concerns is affordability, why not go with the Mixtrax pro. It is new and you seem to like the feel of it. However, my motto is, "buy what you want, not what you can afford'. Do some more research, and either go into debt, or save up for the controller you really want.

Well you know in that price range I'm going to say the Hercules DJ/RMX. Simply cannot go wrong with it!!!

Yeah for that price, I'd go with the RMX or the Numark Mixtrack.

Ok thanks for all yr input,im going to go with the mixtrack as i prefer the larger jog wheels.

Why not buy a pro license? That's what I would do. Then you could book a few payinig gigs and save up the money for a controller.
