Topic: VDJ from PC to MAC where did they go

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

So Ive been working with a PC for yrs within my setup but was blessed with a MAC now so Ive been trying to adjust over....my question is why doesnt the MAC version of VDJ not pickup and recognized my tracks names as far as title, artist and BPM's like my PC does?

Same HD connected and what puzzles me is if recognize some of them but not most of them...PC EVERY SINGLE one is labeled fully...is there something I can run, transfer over or do within the program to recognize this data?

Im surely not trying to sit and label each and everyone of this again...over 200gig of music easy

ill go back to my PC if thats the case...hahahaha

The external drive has to be formatted to FAT32 in order for it to read/write the xml.

Thanks alot...formatting that HD to Fat32 will wipe it clean i think...

I was thinking about going to just purchase a NEW HD for MAC and transfer over....should I get the correct output im looking or if all goes well?

yea, I 'm in the same boat. And I would think getting a New HD and formatt it with FAT32. Then tranfer all My Music files
from my PC HD, to the New Drive and stick a APPLE LOGO on it to say that is my Mac HD? While still having my other PC HD.

download NTFS-3G app (free on macupdate) for mac. It will enable mac to read NTFS format drives. Also recurse and checkdb database. Also, download Perian. It is similar to Codec Packs found in windows and it will enable VDJ and Audio/Video software to play more formats

Why so complicated?

FAT32 is not a bad format!
All my drives are formated with FAT32 and so i can use the same drive on PC & Mac side!

You must only scan new tracks first or again on PC side.
Thats it!

FAT32 has limitations on filename (32 bit) and file size (4 GB). Also, it is older filing system so it is not advanced like NTFS (windows) and HFS+ (mac) which supports 64 bit, indexing and file size abover 4gb (videos)

For me as a DJ not really needed!
I do audio/video and have formated my drives with Fat32 and when i use a bigger volume -> exFat.
Never had a problem while DJING!

@aftershock, when you copy 1:1 the orginal drive content to a backup drive, format the orginal one with FAT32 and then move back the content, it will work!

On the external harddrive or better inside the database, are the informationes stored you are talking about!
Cue, BPM etc.

But you must use the same volume name!

For example, your orginal harddrive with NTFS, was called Musiccase and now after the format it is called Volume!
So you must change the drivename into Musiccase!

If you don't remember the name, you can open the database with a text editor!
BUT DON'T SAVE IT, IF YOU CLOSE IS :-)

You can see iside the database the path informations, like that!

/Volume/Musiccase/HipHop/......................
