Today, I'm going back to my roots in a certain kind of way as a DJ! I'm doing an old school block party, New York style! I'm beyond amped, because I remember as a kid growing up in the Bronx, my family taking me to the likes of Bronx River houses, Patterson projects and few others to watch & listen to DJ's such as DJ African Bambata, DJ Grandmaster Flash, DJ Hollywood and many others rock a whole neighborhood! Using light poles, generators, 20 extension cords from someone house thrown out the window just to get electricity. It was truly an event to be at block parties back in the day and to be doing one myself after all these years, allows my kids to experience a great part of the DJ tradition in NYC has me pumped to start playing now. Also, I love the very reason that I get to really mix up my stlyes as I watch young & old come together to have a great time. For it was events like these that made me want to be a DJ and I love every part of it!
If you ever was a DJ at a block party, then you know where I'm coming from for sure! Yet those who haven't, you have to experience it just once to see what I mean! The crowd, the energy, I promise you there is nothing like it!

Please roll some video on this event. I've never even seen a block party and you should so excited, I'd hate to miss it.

Once my promoter get the video and pictures to me, I'll post them on here. Great day, great event, great food, great music and everybody had fun! Outside of the rain towards the end of the day and some little kid tripping over one of my speaker wires causing one of my speakers to blow (I always keep spares in case of an emergency) The day was perfect!
I was set up by 12 pm, let a few of my mixtapes play to let enough people get there, then by 2 pm, I just went in for the next 5 hours straight and no break, because the energy crazy!
God willing I'm still alive, I'm certainly looking forward to next years event!
