Topic: Never heard these before.....

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I had a fellow contact me asking if I wanted to buy some old EV subs he had.
They are EV eliminator subs from the 1970-80s.

I've done some google-ing about them and found out they are W-style bass bins.
To my knowledge I've never heard them.

Being that sound is subjective, has anyone else had any experience with this older style of bass bin?
Do you like the sound?
They are very large with 2x15 per cabinet

The guy saw my youtube stuff and thought I could refurb them and use them.

Who knows where he dug them up from.
From what I can see on google every manufacturer made this type of bin at one point, so I'm guessing back in the day they were pretty good.

Mmm the only eliminator I know from that time were slide's instead of w bins, with horns attached on one part to make it sort of a full range speaker.

W-bins in general are never bad, they give a good punch, besides that you break your back on them. 2x15 inch means that they are slightly higher than the regular 18inch wbins.

The eliminator's were W bins and they also had flares and mid/high drivers built into them in sort of a early line array.
It's very strange that these were so popular (apparently) and now no-one uses them anymore.

I think I'm gonna pass on then, They might sound great, but for a Mobile guy they're too big.
