I realize a 7200 rpm hard drive would be better all the way around for spinning video, but I'm wondering what most folks are doing when purchasing MacBook Pros to spin video with.
Are most of you using the standard 5400 rpm drive that comes with the MacBook Pro or are you having it upgraded to 7200 rpm drive. First of all Apple doesn't even offer a 7200 rpm drive for their 13 inch Mac book Pro so a drive would have to be added post purchase.

So my question is will the 5400 rpm drive work for spinning video?

A 5400 RPM drive will work fine - It will just be a bit slower loading than a 7200 RPM would be.

I have changed my 5400 to a 7200 : performances are quite the same. I have only noticed my Mac a little bit faster (but really a little) when working on big files like a 640 Mb aiff mixshow...
