Topic: Which 4-channel controller w/o soundcard?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hello

I'm thinking about moving into the 4-deck/4-channel era, but looking at the controllers it looks like most have built-in soundcard, and I like the soundcard I already have. In the end I only need the master out and the phones out

I know that I don't need to actually use the built-in soundcard, but why pay for it if I don't need it.

So which 4-deck/4-channel controller would you recommend as a pure controller?

Do you know if Denon, Numark, American Audio and/or Hercules are planning to release 4-deck/4-channel controllers without built-in soundcards?
Or are the days of using seperate soundcards simply over?

Best regards
Klaus

not gonna happen, but you will find that the four channels usually equal two stereo channels, 1 in and 1 out, which will mean you can run a timecode or input another source to the software to record. there is an ultimate fadarfox midi4loop 4 channel mixer with twice the amount of buttons than you need, and all quality components most will never need at a price not many would be willing to pay, but hey nothing exceeds like excess.

When I have 2 grand lying around I'm definitely scooping one of these bad boys up!! That unit has always caught my attention for some reason, lol!!

I'm sure you'll find some nice 4 channel controllers. But think about it A controller with soundcard mean less to carry less cables and an extra free usb port.

Klaus,

I'm with you on that point.
For instance, Hercules has that new unit, the 4-MX, but you have to use its sound card. Or you have just around the corner, coming out in December, Numark's N4, but it houses a sound card as well. It would be great if Numark made a vesion of the N4 but without a built-in sound card, just like they did with the Mix Track versus the Mix Track Pro.

My question is there any way to bypass the built-in sound card on some of these controllers, for example models built by Hercules, Numark or American Audio?

You can use whatever soundcard you want, just use tue advanced config and route the decks or master output where ever you want. You can do miracles with the advanced config. I do it my Mixdeck. I'd rather use my Audio 8 over the Mixdeck soundcard.

Good luck

Exactly. It would be great to see a Hercules 4-MX without the soundcard (like the RMX vs. the Steel), a Denon MC6000 without the soundcard, an American Audio VMS4 without the soundcard and so on. Then you only have to choose between them for the way they handle as controllers, since your sound setup is already handled by a seperate unit for just that purpose

It's probably not hard to use the new 4-deck units as controllers only (it's simple enough with the MK2 and the RMX), but it should make the units simpler and a few hundred dollars cheaper if they came without a soundcard.

And as you said there used to be versions without soundcards (like RMX vs. Steel and Mix Track vs. Mix Track Pro) so why don't we see this with the new 4-deck controllers?

Exactly.

I have my eye on that Numark N4. That controller looks sweeeeeeet as candy, for an all plastic controller. If Numark makes one without the built-in interface, I want it--slam dunk purchase as far as I\'m concerned. (I don\'t have $1000 to throw down on their higher end rendition of the N4 and so that\'s why I like the Numark unit appealing to the middle rage consumer. Once again, if they release a variant without the sound card, that would be impressive.)

Cool unit

I would love to see the Denon MC-6000 without soundcard, mike-ins, booth-outs, sends and all that stuff. Just all the controller parts. It looks like it's been designed very much with Virtual DJ in mind (especially if you look at the middle section). An maybe a controller only would be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper
