Topic: Humming sound when on big PA

Hello everybody

I had a hugh issue last night. I had a big humming sound when connected to the PA. It was not my PA i have never heard this on mine.

First my setup
Toshiba Laptop
Numark M2
Numark DMC2
Hercules Deejay Trim
Numark CUE LE 5.2.1

The sound was a typical sound of a harddrive working. My first thought was that the USB cable from the Hercules was to close to something else so I moved that and no change. I moved the output from the mixer and no change. I tried another socket for the laptop and still the same issue. When i pulled the powercable to the laptop it stopped.

I have read that i can use a groud loop isolator but would this help? According to me the problem should be the powercable to the laptop. The socket in the laptop sits very close to the USB sockets in the back where i have my Hercules connected.

You need a ground loop isolator, that should stop the hum.
