Topic: Forums Thoughts on Acceptable Mp3 Bitrates

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I myself use mostly WAV files as most of my music was transfered via cd albums into files for storage. These are of course 320kps.....I've heard "don't use anything under 192kbs" I try to adhere to this rule, but I've never heard other opinions.......Anyone have any thoughts?...thanks guys!!... =D

192 to 320 is pretty much acceptable.

128 to 160 can be OK depending on the song and how "busy" it is and this reflects in the compression.

Personally I treat 320kbps MP3 as the maximum amount of compression I'm willing to accept, I also use FLAC when possible.

320kb standard, but if there was a good song ripped from vinyl ten years ago, I'd get it an listen to it on my own, but to play it on a club system it would want to be a pretty bloody good song to go less than 256kb, I know i'm pretty anal but the difference is clear to me in about 90% of cases when the volume is up...

Er no.....WAVs are 1411k if they've come from a standard CD (16 bit 44.1).

But (depending on the musical content) there is often a lot of wasted space in a PCM/WAV file.

Not all material needs or uses that much resolution.

I usually store things at 256k these days if I'm recording it myself. I've still got a fair amount of older stuff though, that was done at 192k or even 128k. During the course of a typical gig, I can't say that anyone notices any difference.

When I first started using MP3s, I encoded loads of stuff in mono at 64k - and even then people used to come up and compliment me on the sound of my rig!

^^^ You are absolutely right!....I got my wires crossed there somewhere...lolol.......I mostly use WAVs, but find 320 to 192kbs Mp3s acceptable.....thanks for the correction and the feedback guys......

320kbps works fine and 256kpbs isnt too bad if you have a decent system.
only thing i've been having issue with these days if the over-mastering on the cd's and tracks that are so over done that sometimes you can barely understand the lyrics without serious and immediate tweaking on the soundboard.

Amen!

Amen!+ (I spend more time riding my EQ than my pony) Hi-Ho-Silver Away!

Depends, if you've spent a lot on your system then you want the best out of it. Go for more but rate!

On the other hand if you have a budget rig and your doing it for a laugh/beer money then 96kb or whatever.

I tend to rip top 40 at 320 and albums at 192

Charles, Did you mean "but" rate or "Butte" rate.

If I have to buy online I try to get 320 if I rip my own I rip to flac. Harddrives are cheap enough now, I try to put the best possible file on them to use with my DJ software.
