Hi everyone, my names Andy and I'm from the UK.
Have been away from DJ'ing for a few years since I sold my Gemini Decks but am now looking at getting a mixer and VDJ and needed some advice.
I have helped my brother in law out recently who owns a mobile disco business, he currently uses VDJ and has a Hercules mixer (not sure which one) but it is a bit basic for my liking as I'm used to the EQ Kills etc.
I have been researching for a couple of weeks on which mixer to buy. I have a budget of maximum £200 and have located three for under this price.
The trouble is that they all have certain pros that the others don't.
I have narrowed it down to the following and have put pro and cons next to each in my my opinion:-
Hercules DJ Console Rmx (Heavy duty build,Has Effects Buttons but small jog wheels).
Numark Mixtrack Pro (Good reviews but plasticky)
Numark IDJ3 (Iphone Dock, 4x Loop buttons but plasticky again)
Does anyone have any views on any of the above as I need some help to decide please ?
I would like the the loop buttons and effects definitely but don't know what to go for. The dock is nice but not essential though.
Thanks in advance

I personally have RMX which I've used for couple mobile gigs. I do recommend it since it's a pretty solid unit. I would say maybe down the line you can always attached turntable or cdjs to it. That's what I did before because the jogs were not in my liking.

if you don't like the jogs of the rmx i say you take a look at the 4-mx. same thing, cept 4 decks and bigger jogs.

hey andy,
personally i would suggest stepping up your price a little bit more and moving to something along the lines of a Numark mixdeck.
i had a hercules e2 and quickly after a few months i couldnt stand it, way to simple and it left me wanting much more.
just my opinion and i can understand a budget, but keep it in mind! maybe try one out before purchasing and compare it to something a little better.

Thanks for all your opinions guys, really appreciated. Unfortunately I can't afford much more than £200 for the foreseeable future :-(
Much as I love the look of the Mixdeck as it looks like it has all of the things I would like in a mixer, I somehow don't think my wife would think the same if she saw the pricetag lol.
She already thinks I'm wasting my money now as she thinks I won't get time to go on it with us having a 1 year old child and maybe soon to be another on the way.
Maybe if I stick to a cheaper one first and prove I am going to get some use out of it (maybe even suggest I will use it when I go with the brother in law to his mobile gigs).
Cheers Guys
Andy

Just a few words about starting out small...IT'S OK!! You only have 200 to spend on a mixer NOW, but when you make an honest attempt at running a successful business, the more expensive mixer will buy itself! Something to ponder.

The question you need to ask yourself is what are your future intentions with this kit? Is it just going to be hobbying at home or are you intending making money from it. Also what features do you need in terms of connectivity, mic inputs, sound cards, etc...
I was in a similar dilemma recently and I had a budget of £300, fortunately I already have reasonably decent kit so decided to stay put with what I had that I know is reliable albeit a bit workman like rather than go down the 'cheap' all in one route.
All I will say is that if you can up your budget to say £300 and maybe look for something second hand on ebay it opens up other options, Vestax VCI300 Mk2 jumps to mind if you get lucky.
For £200 you may get lucky and get a VCI100 mk 2 but this does not have mic inputs which may or may not be important. Mk1 is cheaper but doesn't have a sound card...
The Numark N4 also looks interesting but is going to be around £350 I believe...

I have a Reloop Digital Jockey 2 Interface Edition, its alright, fairly good quality all round for the price, it has a metal chassis, built in 2 in 2 out soundcard, with seperate headphone out and mic in, good jogs for mixing with and touch sensitive for scratching, a great crossfader, every type of tactile control available, the downsides are the small pitch fader (although it is 14bit resolution) & wobbly eq knobs (which have push buttons on them for kiils)... Got it used from eBay Australia for $145 delivered

the mixage IE is probably better though as the eq knobs don't have push buttons on them, but all the same components, just less of them

Thanks again for the replies everyone. Food for thought there :-). Will carry on pondering for now I think.
@Matt My intentions are mainly a bit of bedroom mixing but helping out the brother in law now and then at his mobile gigs so I don't think I'm gonna need something to expensive just yet but again I don't really want something too basic either.
Have looked at the Mixdeck and the Vestax decks and I just can't free up that sort of cash really. Especially when you have to factor in the cost of Virtual Dj Pro as well.
Looks like it's more than likely gonna have to be the Mixtrack Pro or the RMX. I can't find anything that says which one of the two is best ?
The thing putting me off getting the mixtrack is that I'm not sure if this has as many features as the RMX but I am put off the RMX because the kill switches don't light up. Can anyone confirm if they light up on the Mixtrack ?
If the kills light up and it has better features than the RMX then I will prob get the Mixtrack.
Cheers
