Does this work with VDJ 7 on windows XP? I rad in another message it doesnt but I want to use it with my XP laptop... I see there is a mapper file... what exactly does it control? is there documentation for the mapper file?

No it does not work on XP.
It does not follow the device detection rules for Windows XP and therefore not supported on that platform by VirtualDJ.

You could consider the Zomo MC-1000 if it's available in your country:
http://www.zomo.de/en/Products/MIDI-Controller/Zomo-Midi-Controller-MC-1000.html
Otherwise, simply upgrade to Windows 7 and then you can use the DN-HC1000S.

I dont need a sound card either.. I just want a midi controller so I dont have to use mouse and keyboard..
I cant upgrade my laptop to WIN7 as it doesnt have enought memory and isnt supported. when I get a new laptop, I will be OK but for now I have to find a controller to work with XP

Try looking at the Korg Nano series. There pretty good for the money and I think they work with XP. Or look up the NI X1.
Good Luck

Think of it this way -- if you get the Zomo product then you have a back-up sound card with you at all times. You don't have to use the sound card part in order to use the MIDI capabilities.
