I use an old suitcase that has the caster wheels for all my extra cables, speaker wire, mics and such, my cd players and main mixer are in their own case that has a storage space for those cables, and my amps (2) crossover and EQ are in their own case, so when I set up I have one cord to run from the cd/mixer case down to the amp case. I keep my laptop and controller in their own bags. Works out pretty good for me. I have an assortment of extra cables of varying lengths and adapter types, being mobile you never know what you may need. And basicallly my collection resulted from running into different situations and having to run or send my partner out for something at the last minute. Don't have to do that much these days.

I just use a small black dufflebag I've had for years. I also carry around a small fan that fits inside the black blag. Also in there are adapters, extra cables, plugs, connectors, replacements bulbs, pens, business cards, tools (small knife, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, etc.). It's literally my bag of tricks. The bag has a shoulder strap so it's easy to carry around.

I hard wired up my rack as much as possible. I got a big enough rack that I am able to store all of my usual cables (speaker & deck connection) inside of it. My extra long cables & backup cables I store in a tool bag.
One tip: Velcro ties to keep those cables neat!

From Home Depot:

You can even cinch them around the cable so they won't get lost.

just put the backups right in the rack and the toolbox....
i put small and medium wires in zip lok bags
medium and large wires for speakers get velcro and/or cable cuffs
i try to fit small wires into one crate and larger wires into another
then a duffle with backups for all of the above
i used to have one of those big rolling boxes that TearEmUp posted the link to....
i put a thick towel in the bottom and taped large size bubble wrap around the perimeter
it's a great box , try it....
of course i DID NOT pop acres of bubble wrap before putting it in the box ....
green plastic crates as noted previously , must be extra cool .....
always leaving my audience "riveted" .......
