Topic: Will VDJ8 be a free upgrade? - Page: 1

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

Most software companies charge $50-$100 for software upgrades, but when I went to the Download Center I noticed it said "...you can always find the latest version of your software [here]." So will it be a free upgrade? If not how much might it cost? Thanks, and by the way I just wanted to say you guys (Atomix) are doing a damn fine job making some quality software. The Traktor/Serato communities give you guys a lot of hate but I think you're doing a fantastic job making something that's different then what's already out there on the market.

yep it's free for anyone with an existing vdj pro licence.

I never seen a software companie that charges you for updates.

Phew! Can't wait =)

NO - VirtualDJ Updates have been free from day 1 to registered users.

What you read was related to our new users that are djDecks users. And that update/upgrade offering can be read here - http://djdecks.be/

M-Audio/Avid Torq.....not only do you have to pay for their updates but it messes up your other existing audio software.

Hopefully it will be a charged update geared towards professionals, if it's a complete software rewrite with a bunch of new features I see no reason why the "professional" version, used by professional/paid DJ's shouldn't have to pay an upgrade fee, however small. A few relevant software companies that charge for completely new versions; Adobe, Sony, ME, windows, mixed in key, Traktor and the list goes on.

Of course massive updates justify an upgrade fee as long as the last free update is still supported and free of major bugs.

I also hope version 8 doesn't get widely cracked like previous versions, and that there's no free version (all those enjoying the current free version should have to decide whether they want a new program that's fully functional verse an old free one, it's a more attractive proposition if you're paying for something new than simply unlocking current potential).

Several people (myself included) even said we'd pay for a video effects/transitions update.

One or probably the biggest software company there is... Microsoft, and also Apple...

Thats wack that they are charging. Since i use Virtual Dj and serato, i thought the rest didnt charge for updates.

vdj8 gonna be all good

Well that's the question on everyone's lips! To quote the VDJ bosses - "when it's ready"... Fingers crossed we'll have a nice surprise on the download page sooner rather than later eh - they like to take their time doing beta testing and bug fixing, can't fault 'em for that really!

It is Atomix Production's policy not to set release dates or disclose details of features that are planned or will be present in the next version.

This is to avoid disappointment should it not be possible to meet the deadline or include a feature for any reason.

The next version of VirtualDJ will be released once it has been finished and fully tested by the beta testing team.

When the next version is released, an announcement will be made in the forums along with details of what new features have been added to the software. You can see a summary of previous updates on the VirtualDJ History page.

"More details about the new VirtualDJ 8 will be available soon".....

Well that was posted by "Corporate Staff" ...... THREE MONTHS AGO

So how about some of these promised details ..... quoting Atomics well known release policy does not cut it.

You ... (Corporate Staff) promised "More details about the new VirtualDJ 8 will be available soon"

Well I think soon has been and gone 1/4 of a year has passed and still nothing.

I think the lack of more details as promised is coursing disappointment.

Well, Im sorry guy. Generate some expectation is part of the business.
Atomix Productions usually wont say anything about VirtualDJ 8 (or any other upgrade) new features or release dates. Most users only will know VirtualDJ 8 when available at the download center.
If you keep helping on VirtualDJ communities, maybe you be invited to beta testing team and know something about upgrades before regular users.
