More info coming Monday, so they say....

No I do not have a pair. A close friend of 20 years is a Denon Rep. Though I already know some of the features they will have (sworn to secrecy -lol) the info related to these controllers will be released on Monday at www.denondjforums.com

Have fun boys

The deck looks nice but, i wont be impressed with a few more newer features. My mani concern is the Platter. Denon knows the platters resolution can be better. Whether you use the decks with usb thumbdrive, Hybrid or Midi, The platters jog is the same on the 3700's. I hope the new ones are better. My Numark Ns6 platters are tighter and they are not motorized.

Well that's it.....

I won't be changing from my HS5500s as I was hoping. For me it's all a bit of a let down again, a la New Species.

No internal hard drive option, just a CD player (which I don't use).

No dual layer/deck function.

Only one USB A socket (and it's on the top) so you can't neatly tuck a hard drive away somewhere.

You also can't connect a keyboard for searching - no dedicated k/b socket, only the one USB A (as above) and no compatibility with hubs.

No effects. Not a big deal, but I do sometimes use them for transitions.

Only a three line display, with no connection for an external display.

Meh

No connection for an external display, unless you hook it up to your ipad! I'm not sure how the whole thing is going to work but from what I read on digital dj tips it sounds like you'll be able to use an ipad to search for and choose your tunes, but the songs will actually play from your usb stick plugged into the deck... Quite a neat idea (expensive if you don't already own an ipad though!).

Yep you have to buy an iPad (or use a computer) to browse with some degree of usefulness - and a wireless router.

Then you have to hard wire your players into the router, but use a potentially unreliable wireless connection to the iPad.

Instead of making things easier, they're complicating things - adding more clutter and more chances for things to go wrong (or be set up wrong by luddite DJs).

They won't be offering any sort of competition to the CDJ-2000 because of all the above, and the fact they've just used a recycled CD player screen instead of a decent sized one. Didn't even need to be colour, just more suited to browsing 1000s of files.

Oh well, maybe someone'll release a killer product before BPM this year.....

The 9-inch platter makes scratch moves more nimble by being that little bit smaller, but maintains the perfect amount of space to grip it, scratching & mixing tracks feels no different than using vinyl” --DJ Switch, SC3900 endorsee and 3x World DMC Champion.

This crap is disappointing. I don't know why they tryna introduce more software for people to learn. There's only 3 platforms that people want to use. If your going to introduce software at least try and make it standalone on the unit like stanton so you don't need a laptop.

Would be nice if they at least upgraded the display so you can see more than one track at a time also.

Denon only introduced hybrid mode because midi mode is not working as well as it should. I love the quality of denon but man its frustrating. the 5500's were a step in the right direction but they were just bad with the timing with the GFC. I'd like to see denon sort out their compatibility issues with either of the dj softwares with true native support. If you jump on their forums they suggest some random piece of software that no1 uses and claim it works best with that software for scratching.

Anyways thats my rant.... lets look at advantages. Yep just 1... denon 3700's will now be cheaper :)

It's not a random piece of software, it's written by one of the originators of DJ software. The man behind one of the most stable DJ progs ever - that many people still use to this day, even though it's well past the "sell by" date (PCDJ Red).

It's also wrong to say no one uses it. It's under the radar compared to VDJ but it has a dedicated user base.

Sticking with my 3700's dont see need to go this route.

@ Funnybonz. The 3900's has a better motor for a tighter platter responce when you are scratching. The 3700's platter can be better

So now you gonna have to haul around even more junk (router etc.) to put on the show? more junk=more possibilities for things to fail.

Yep but unfortunately Silvio has just recently stated on the Denon forum that "there are no plans" for an update of the 5500 style of player.

I have downloaded and read the sc3900 intruction manual... the thing so far all of the "hardcore djs" may have over looked is to connect 2 sc3900's to a computer you must use cat5 (ethernet cable) first you run cat5 to a network router then your run one cat5 wire to each of the sc3900's from from 2the channels of the router. You must set up a network from yourr computer and identify a master and slave unit.

Then you'll need to assign all of the midi features on each unit... that is hypothetically. Virtual dj usually connects to midi controllers by usb 2.0... the big question for virtual dj is... is your program capable of connecting to the sc3900's like this? Can you run 2cat5 of them from the ethernet port on your computer?

And what of assigning the midi sensor (the record) to control the virtual record (the speed of the song) who can guarentee the speeds match and can even be calibrated without disrupting the bpm signals.

Without knowing this for sure...

I can't see spending $2000 on a piece of gear without knowing for sure.

Let's here virtual dj 's techs now... can you keep up with serato on functionality with the new midi products available?

It seams maybe we should shop for new software... I'm booked 6 nights a week , if i spend $2000 on the sc3900... I'm gonna have to stay with the software that works with the gear..

Imreally not interested in dead links... just answers. Anyone ready to start giving them? Apparently I'm not the only one that's upset about this. We support... we pay... we have stuck with your software... now? Well your support to our needs is running thin. Try... get your techs working.

Since you are not interested in going to the link provided to find the answer to this, let me help you. Here is what was said:

Ok, could not stay away any longer ...

First people need to get all their FACTS right before they say who does and does not have OFFICIAL mappings ...

Traktor - UNOFFICIAL MAPPING << Native Instruments have not provided a native mapping for the unit. Just like 90+ percent of the controllers on the market - Native Instruments has nothing to do with the mapping of the unit. The TSI file available is a TSI created by a Traktor user. Denon Forums even DISCLAIMS this on their site. Additionally, this is a HYBRID Mapping which requires you to use a SOUND CARD for the Platters to work.

Forum Post: http://www.denondjforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=17688
Name: Denon DJ Forums Map
Last Updated: 05/04/2012
Version: 1.0.0
Description: Unofficial official mapping file from the Forum team !
Compatible Software: Traktor 2.x

SSL - UNOFFICIAL MAPPING << Again, mappings provided from the Denon staff to bring support to SSL. It is a HYBRID mapping again - requiring sound cards. Then again, that is the only way you can use SSL. But, still you can not just OPEN SSL and get native support. Oh, and one post even has a guy asking about mapping additional functions and guess what the reply was -- use the 'Learn' feature in SSL and map the button.

First and foremost - VirtualDJ is the LEADER in the industry for NATIVE mapping support of products on the market. REAL VirtualDJ staff providing a REAL solution. You will not find another software product on the market that provides plug-n-play to the level and quantity of controllers like VirtualDJ does. And, where the integration/mapping was done by REAL Staff members of that software product.

This will only continue to grow as we are consistently working with the manufactures to make their products Priority 1 in our development cue, but not EVERYONE can be PRIORITY 1 at the same time. The priority and attention is do to various constraints that come up throughout the process. Some are incurred by the vendors inability to provide product for development and testing that fits their timeline, while others are because of simply poor timing, requirements made, and/or possibly application modifications for support.

So, using VirtualDJ with this unit - there are only 2 current courses of action -

1.) If you are using a Timecode mode setup already, then you are in good shape. Hybrid mode is the answer with using the MIDI Learn features of VirtualDJ's MIDI mapping tool.

2.) If you are looking for REAL NATIVE mapping then you will need to wait. There are changes to the way this unit works that is not currently supportable by just throwing a mapping out there on the street. These changes are being worked by our development staff and once we are confident in bringing 'REAL' support for the unit to the market is possible, then we will provide it at that time.

So; YES, your needs are listened to - but making 'demands' will not accomplish or make things happen quicker.

And, making inaccurate statements is just a poor choice in an attempt to justify your demands or position.

Cheers ...

That link is not dead and as posted above contains the answers you requested. Continue your discussion on the support of the controller there as that is the correct place for it.
