Topic: Pioneer’s New DJM-850 Digital DJ-Friendly Mixer

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Pioneer today announced the latest mixer in its range, the DJM-850, a replacement for its DJM-800 model. The mixer builds on the DJM-800′s features, adding the ability to integrate the mixer further with DJ software, and more sophisticated effects that borrow from the DJM-900nexus.

With a built in four-stereo channel high-quality sound card, the mixer further blurs the line between hardware and software DJing, and sheds a little more light on the ultimate direction digital DJing might take over the coming years. Below we look closer at what’s on board, bring you the launch video, and link to more photos as well as the official press release.

Looks like it's everything the 800 should of been.

They really milked it!

nice, this will be a prettymuch useless upgrade from the 800.
pioneer really has some marketing guru's at work.

somehow they say it has more features then the 800 but it is not a club mixer anymore, it is for home and mobile use.
probably because they are affraid they'l sell the 900 less.

anyway, a nice mixer if you are thinking of buying a djm 800, but if you already have a 800, i really don't see the point of this mixer.
just my opinion, don't be mad.

I think they really messed something up here, calling a £1200 mixer for home and mobile dj use!!!

I don't get why this got released. Surely the 900 is a straight replacement for the 800????

They're not that different in price and they've got pretty much the same features (no router built in- but they're cheap enough to buy anyway!) and no digital ins- who cares either way if you're using the usb sound card!) so unless they're going to dramatically drop the price once it's out, there's no point!

Thinking about it, maybe that is the point, if they drop the price like they did on the dj controllers, then maybe it'll be a worthwhile addition...

Here is my only problem with this revised version --

This is where they put the USB port for the Soundcard ???
>> USB x 1 (top side B port)

Then you need something like this ...

Which is a Right Angled USB cable (can't use a left because it would block the Mic's XLR) which could interfer with the Input switch for channel 1.

And ...
>> MIDI OUT x 1 (5P DIN)

So, MIDI is still going to require an adapter MIDI-to-USB ????

These are just engineering perspective critics - I am sure the same DJM-800 quality is still there.
Just not sure enough consideration was given to making it really 'Digital DJ' friendly.

@s.waterrus

Totally agree with you. I´ve got a 800 at home now,and could not be more happier. If & when I decide to upgrade,I´ll either go for the 900 or the svm model:)

No, because they've put a USB socket on there (as you pointed out). The DIN socket has apparently been left for backwards compatibility (owners of previous models who may have purchased adapters).

the only reason for digital inputs beeing handy is for multiple use of effects.

you can hook up a cdj with rca and coax at the same time,
for example:

cdj with rca to channel 1 and dhte same cdj with coax to channel 2

you can now use effects on 1 and 2 at the same time so you can do crush and LPF at the same time

this can not be done with the 850 because it is lacking digital ports, so i think that could be a great miss.

and indeed the placement of the usb port is just wrong

Well there are conflicting spec information out there and I will find out which is right.

The Primary Pioneer site (PioneerDJ.com) lists one thing, where the Pioneer Electronics USA (www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/) lists it differently.

Even then ... why the USB port in such a bad spot?? And, why not just replace the 5Pin DIN with the USB port to have a more convenient location ???

So they have 1 USB input, now they just need 2 more USB inputs for CDJ's/midi then you wouldn't need to run 2 usb's to your computer from your decks.

I agree, some of the choices that manufacturers make on products can seem downright
crazy - you'd think that it had been designed by the office tea boy instead of someone
who knows what's needed by potential end users!

But no - if you ask them, they say that they have a whole team of working DJs who they
consult with on these things.

Eh? Who are these DJs? A bunch of "yes men" who just agree to everything for fear of being kicked off the squad? :-)

Yes very true, funny how they never disclose who works for them and funny how they never do polls or anything. I'm sure they read these forums though.
